Aerial footage shows firefighting efforts across the greater Los Angeles area as multiple wildfires raged over several days, causing extensive destruction and forcing tens of thousands to evacuate.

The footage was filmed by Coulson Aviation, a company contracted by various Los Angeles counties to fight fires.
As Los Angeles continues its battle against a spate of wildfires, the extent of the devastation is only beginning to come into view across more than 40,000 acres torched in less than a week.
Since the Pacific Palisades fire began spreading on January 7, more than 150,000 people across Los Angeles County were put under evacuation orders, unable to return to their neighbourhoods to confront what is left of their homes.

On Sunday officials unveiled interactive maps showing structures damaged or destroyed by the two largest blazes, the Palisades and Eaton fires.

In summer in Oz, the big North American air cranes and the chinook and their crews that California loans us during summer, fly over my place every night a 9pm, they shake the joint off its foundations, they are so low and loud. They go to the big reservoir directly behind my house, along with our own aerial support, and they practise scooping up water doing night drops, using night vision goggles. It’s amazing to watch them in action.. when there’s no fires, that is, and it’s fun to watch them on Flightradar24. Haven’t seen them here this year, every appliance is needed at home in the US this year.. but I cannot thank the aerial support crews enough for their invaluable work.
