Aerial Inspection of Areas Affected by ST Carina and the Enhanced Southwest Monsoon in Region III

Prior to proceeding to the City of Malolos for a situation briefing, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. conducts an aerial inspection on July 27, 2024 over the Provinces of Bulacan, Pampanga and Bataan as part of the government’s ongoing comprehensive assessment, relief and rehabilitation efforts on the impact of Super Typhoon Carina and the enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat) in Region III or Central Luzon.
The Provincial Governments of Bulacan, Bataan and Pampanga have already placed their respective Provinces under a State of Calamity after extensive damages brought by the Super Typhoon and habagat to the lives of residents and various sectors in their localities. This is to ensure swift recovery efforts, including the delivery of basic goods and commodities to those badly affected.
Based on latest reports, the Province of Bulacan experienced widespread losses in its agriculture and infrastructure sectors which amounted to PhP103 million and PhP789 million, respectively. More than 400,000 families or one (1) million individuals were also affected.
Likewise, the Province of Pampanga incurred major damages due to the calamity, with 7,571 hectares of agricultural land affected including 4,494 farmers throughout the Province.
Moreover, the Province of Bataan reported extensive damages in terms of livelihood and its agriculture sector. A total of PhP92.92 million was recorded in terms of agricultural losses while 208,371 families from 237 flooded barangays were badly affected.
The Chief Executive also inspects the extent of damages caused by the recent oil spill off the coast of Bataan after Tanker Terra Nova sunk in the waters of the Municipality of Limay on July 25, 2024.
