I grew up in Lakeland My grand parents had a place on Long Boat Key. Growing up I spent my beach lounging days on Long Boat, Coquina beach and Siesta Key point of rocks. Boating and fishing in this area are AMAZING! Thanks TampaAerialMedia for posting these videos you really know how to make a person homesick.

Thankyou, I assume you saw our latest video of Lakeland posted last week.
@steelbones19115 жыл бұрын
@@TampaAerialMedia Yes I did see it. It was a great snapshot video that showed how much Lakeland has grown since my last visit about 15 years ago. I was a teen in the 70s lakeland I went to Carlton Palmore elementary, Crystal Lake Jr. High, and Lakeland Senior School. Our family owned a few Amoco gas stations. The surrounding areas have really grown since my childhood. When I was a kid, Lakeland was pretty much citrus groves, phosphate mine and swamp lands. In a way it's kind of sad to see so much of it gone but Lakeland still has that small town feeling and is a wonderful place to live. I still have family and friends that live there. Due to unfortunate health reasons more than likely I'll never be able to go back, so your well put together snapshot videos offer a glimpse of home that bring back some of my fondest memories. Thanks a bunch.

Bought a vacation home in Sarasota 14 years ago but sold it last year. The last few years, traffic jam, concrete everywhere, massive malls emerging. I saw this gorgeous town changed from a pretty quiet and peaceful seaside town to an extremely busy, crowded (car and people) place. Also, the surrounding area has traded his beauty and tropical vegetation for concrete, massive malls, and roads. I remember Siesta beach been a beautiful beach but few years ago the town thought it was a good idea to pour concrete everywhere.

Kevin Moore--- Yes, I lived there a long time...and it's not a good thing (I know you know this) for the water to be in the 80's (and it's been MUCH higher the last couple of summers). All that DEEP green water is not good, the too high water temps for too long has caused medium for the Vibrio and the persistent red tides. Not sure if they're getting a break now, but when we went back down in July, there were red flags everywhere. No bueno. Thanks Monsanto...thanks big sugar polluting the Okeechobee. Also, all of you NUTS who just can't BEAR to have a weed or, gasp, DANDELION in your yard? Thanks! John smith Sold my vacation home last year (wrote the reason why in another comment) for around $330K, 2200sqf, 3 beds, 2 baths, pool, 2 cars garage, 10 minutes drive from Siesta beach. Sold it in 2 months. I am sure, you could find something even cheaper if you are willing to be a little far away from the beaches. I used to go to the Nokomis beach (Siesta beach been too crowded), I think houses there are cheaper.

What scares me is that it looks like the beaches are narrowing on Long Boat Key and especially on Lido Key. In fact, the beach had to be refurbished in front of the Ritz Beach Residences on Lido. The water was all the way up to the pool before the Army Corp of Engineers made the beach about 100 feet wider. Now it looks beautiful. Not sure how long that will last, but the coastlines are shrinking up and down the Florida coasts. We live in Florida and have been watching it firsthand. No matter, FLORIDA IS GORGEOUS, AND SARASOTA IS THE PRETTIEST SMALL CITY IN AMERICA.

Sarasota is the polar opposite of my place of birth NY , From my college years at the Ringling college (then..school) of art and design, to residing in siesta key experiencing all the goodness of Sarasota in the early 90's, long before it was rediscovered by the masses and taken over by the snooty-snob nation. It is and was a great place to live, one of america's best hands down. later, living in Clearwater and Saint-Pete for all it had to offer. i miss Florida. The state may not be perfect, but for what it gets rite, it does better than any other state in the US.

I went to Ringling School of Art in Sarasota in 1963! I loved it, but it has changed! It still has a lot to offer but Long Boat key used to be beautiful and natural and I wish money had not been the winning factor! Also the sugar industry and others have poisoned the waters on both coasts and huge algae blooms cause sea life death and toxic air to breath! Everybody seems to live with it, as if it's natural, and they don't realize we're all frogs in a slowly heating pot! We're learning how to get use to the heat, but eventually we'll be cooked!
