Be forewarned -- Sarasota is SO expensive. Not just the homes but also restaurants, etc. When we first moved here a few years ago, restaurant prices were reasonable. Now they are ridiculously expensive. A cheeseburger at a nice sit down restaurant was $10 in 2018. Now expect to pay $18 or $19. Yeah, I know, inflation is everywhere. But I travel and it's worse here. It's like they assume everyone who retires here is rich. But that's not the case.

Please come rent. Sarasota has changed so much in the last 5 years. Live here before buying. Plus there is a large increase in inventory. Condos have new reserve rules coming into play regarding the structural integrity. Get a buyers agent to protect your interests. A contract reviewed by a lawyer. . Taxes are based on sales price not on the amount listed. Indurance rates have exploded. Now for the multimillionaire this is your new play ground

Those DO NOT have alligators as that water is SALT water. And alligators live in FRESH water. I know someone who lives on Bird Key which is surrounded by Sarasota Bay, and there are NO alligators there.

This video does not paint a very real picture of what the place is really like. I live here and the traffic is horrendous due to all the people who have moved here in the last few years, especially since COVID. Plus the cost of living is not affordable for most people. Last but not least, Lakewood Ranch is NOT close to the beach whatsoever. It's about a 45-minute drive to any of the beaches. There's a joke that most people who live there (including me) only go to the beach when they have company from out of town who want to go there.

Yes, they did build many of them in the last five years as the skyline is changing at the speed of light. Just as nature and beauty are disappearing due to the greed of the developers that run Sarasota. Sad but true. Sarasota is a small city and can't handle all the influx of people and apartment buildings going up. For example, many roads in and out of residential areas are one lane and now traffic lights are 5 or 6 way lights that take forever.
