Aerion "Brightflame" Targaryen, man what a "wild" card. The color-scheme was definitely interesting. Also, his duel against Ser Duncan really was pretty cool to hear of, considering he gave the Hedge-Knight quite the fight. And his deeds in the Blackfyre Rebellion, and wanting Bittersteel dead were both commendable as well... sucks he was kinda touched in the head though, what a strange and brutal way to go. What was he really thinking? Also, it's odd, all the Targaryens here were so bountiful to the point where Aemon was leaving to the Night's Watch and Maekar figured he wouldn't need to remarry But then the Tragedy of Summerhall cut the numbers down to 3

Aemon went to the Citadel. Which does also made him renounce any inheritance he may have had. He joined the night's watch after Aegon became king to truly ensure no one could try to use Aemon to depose Aegon.

Aerion also named his son after the most based King in Westeros. Maegor Brightflame was the true heir to the Iron Throne

I kind of think Brynden Rivers put the idea of drinking wildfire into Arion's head. Even Bloodraven would be frightened by the thought of Arion as king.

If he weren't mad. I think he'd have made quite the good king. Dragon dreamer, warrior, soldier, dabbled in mystical stuff. He had a full curriculum tbh.

I choose to believe Maekar and Dyanna were like Tywin and Joanna: hard men who loved their wives, and choose a more stoic public image of married life, while being passionately loving behind closed doors. Like how Tywin never smiled again after Joanna died, Maekar stopped smiling after he lost both Dyanna and Baelor.
@knightsfb326 ай бұрын
Maekar definitely was passionate and loving behind close doors. We see some of this in Egg and Dunk stories. Only a loving dad would have trouble telling his son NO

Aerion's fate is reminiscent of Aerys II's, isn't it? Aerys also thought he would be reborn from the flames as a dragon. And his pyre was to include several thousands of unwitting blood sacrifices. Kind of like what Dany did to hatch her eggs. It seems like part of Aerys' madness were dragon dreams, like in Aerion's case.

I wonder if we ever get a f&b 2 or more dunk and egg books if we will learn more about aerion's children
@WorldOfWesteros6 ай бұрын
i have a feeling at the very least we will get fire and blood part 2, but it will stop after the first blackfyre rebellion as George won't want to delve into to much Dunk and Eggs stuff. I suspect much of it is already written but he doesn't want to publish it before winds. I'm confident we get f&b2 simply because HBO will be keen for it given how many spin offs it could produce

Anyone else think Maegor could possibly be in the lineage of Faegon????????
@Philipp.of.Swabia6 ай бұрын
I think the House „Brightflame“ would actual be amazing, but I think Faegon will turn out to be a Blackfyre after all. The Brightflames might have been George’s first attempt at a „Evil“ usurper Branch, but he later decided it would be the Blackfyres. Or at least that’s how it could have been.

I think that egg was informed about Dunks prophecy and maybe thought that it was Aerion who would be the dragon that fell upon him which is why he sought after him. Egg hated aerion
@Spongebrain976 ай бұрын
Aerion being a mad Targaryen always intrigued me because his parents were not related, with his mother being a Dayne added fresh blood into the gene pool. Yet Aerion became mad nonetheless. Like I know he was still inbred via his great grandparents but in GRRM's world that didn't seem as bad as coming from a direct and closer incestuous union.
@thatoneblackdude33336 ай бұрын
That's because Targaryen madness isn't real and was just d&d propaganda aerion was just a spoiled prince you don't need to be inbred to act like him just look at Ramsey.
@Spongebrain976 ай бұрын
@thatoneblackdude3333 Targaryen madness is indeed a thing but it's not as common in the books as it is suggested in the show
@thatoneblackdude33336 ай бұрын
@@Spongebrain97 no it isn't it's a myth created by people who don't like Targaryens all you have to do is look at the family tree not even 1% of the family went " mad " and most of them weren't born from Incest it's not real it goes against gourges themes about the human heart and how people are 3 dimensional people.
@NicholasHuff-c3c2 ай бұрын
Maekar's mother was Dornish. She was a princess from House Martel. And it's just a personality he chose to become based on his privilege upbringing not his family's incest. That's why he allowed Ser Duncan the Tall to take Aegon with him on the road as a hedge knight. Daeron was a drunk, Aereon was just a spoiled monster and Aemon was sent off to be a maester. Aegon was Maekar's last chance for a son to become a good man. Maekar's father was a product of incest but not him or his son.

not unless Maegor his only child goes on to marry into the Blackfyres somehow. Anything is possible like with a lot of the stuff from TWOIAF there is a lot of info we do not know
