Jayne's story is definitely one of the saddest, most tragic ones in the whole ASOIAF. Although not from a great family or great wealth, she had a safe and comfortable childhood. Then she found herself stranded at 11 in a strange land, a penniless orphan with no friendly faces to aid her. And she had no 'value' in the game of thrones, so she was gifted to Littlefinger. One can only imagine how he kindly explained to her her new position in life and how she now has to work to pay for her food and board. This wide-eyed, sensitive girl, dreaming of handsome lords, found herself sold to the highest bidder and then exploited further by being shipped off to Ramsey Bolton... Frankly, some of the more horrific things he subjected her to are never described but only hinted at. Admittedly, I don't know how Jayne can go on should she survive the story. The release of death could be the kindest fate for her, hopefully after a moment of renewed feeling of peace and security. Or becoming a septa. Not everyone's happy ending should involve a husband and children, and in Jayne's case, such thing would ring false, at least for many, many years.
@adaroez6 ай бұрын
Well as a form of recompensation she could actually get the Bolton's lands and incomes and create her own house. She would obviously be no choice for many first born sons of highborn lords, but for second sons, bastards and lords of smaller holdings she would still be an attractive choice. I doubt that she would want to be a Septa, as she is a northener and thus a follower of the old gods. It's not rare that the Starks gift land and income to houses in distress in order to create loyal bannermen. She would deserve it in my opinion.

I disagree that the writers were aware of any backlash that could or couldn't have happened with the Jeyne storyline. She was cut because when D&D were starting the 1st season, they didn't think she was relevant at the time as their problem was always not caring about the small details which brought the bigger picture. While fine not having Jeyne as a character, the writers could have prepared for this plotline with the character of Ros as she does have a connection to Theon and the North as well as have the correct hair for the Northern families to think it was actually Sansa who was marrying Ramsay. Another aspect on how Ros could have worked is also it highlights better the idea how the small folk aren't important to the grand houses as this was a woman who went to King's Landing for a better opportunity and got screwed over as the show kinda forgot that theme where it could been more showcased with a character the audience was already familiar with than just another torture p*** session for Sansa Stark.

@Kalafinwë6 ай бұрын
*TV Show Spoiler* Well if we take the scene where Arya is infront of a kneeing and begging Baelish, the revenge is swiftly given. But the thing is, we already know the TV show mixes characters, since Sansa has substituted Jeyne's role in Winterfell, and later escape. TV Show Arya might have substituted Jeyne's role as well. So maybe in the books we will have Jeyne holding a knife infront of Baelish, and while he is begging Sansa, Jeyne cuts his throat. That would be vengeance enough.

Another sad character in the books is Penny- a dwarf girl . She and her brother- both dwarfs would sham joust as knights for entertainment and thus earn their livelihood. They had even jousted at Joffreys wedding where Joffrey had wanted Tyrion to joust with them to mock him. When Tyrion escapes to Pentos and on his way to meet Dany, Penny finds him and blamed him for the killing of her brother . He had been killed by a group of men who had heard of the reward offered by Cersei for Tyrions head. As of ADWD, she and Tyrion are together joining a sellsword company

I think Jeyne was made for two purposes: Theon/Ramsay plot (and probably will end like in the show, but Jon will be the one to throw Ramsay to the dogs). And Sansa character arc to somehow free herself from Littlefinger and the Vale. So shes like just a narrative mechanism to move the story forward, one of the most doomed and tragic characters of asoiaf

I really do hope the Mannis skewers Ramsey, hes OCD about justice and honour and repaying people for their actions (most notably Davos, took his fingertips because the law demanded he pay for his crimes and done it himself because Davos asked, he then gave him a lordship as thanks.) Stannis will for sure execute Ramsey for his crimes and has shown a disdain for rape as he executes anyone who rapes in his army no matter their station... the fact he was open to Davos wishes makes me think if she asked Stannis to punish Ramsey in a certain way he will for sure do it. Plus Stannis will for sure make sure Ramsey dies horrifically to appease the northern lords in recompesne for them hearing her screams so they will wanna hear Ramsey scream.

This doesn't give me a lot of sympathy for Ned's execution, he put everyone in danger including the families he brought from winterfell and his own family, all for not knowing when to just leave no matter if his friend and king Robert got mad at him.

Also, he was about to go home, but Sansa went to Cersei, and asked her to convince Ned to let her stay in the capitol, that’s how she knew what Ned’s plan is, and that’s caused his death. His biggest mistake was not wanting to scare Sansa and tell her they weren't safe. If I remember well, Arya knew something was wrong because Ned had vaguely hinted at it when he spoke to her, but Sansa knew nothing.

I wonder what's going to happen if Jeyne meets Sansa and Sansa is still with LF. Will Jeyne see Sansa as another victim when Sansa is living a rape-free relatively comfortable life? Will Jeyne (somewhat rightfully) blame Sansa for what happened to her and her father? One more day and they would have been out of the city. Sansa was not the kindest to Jeyne right after everything went down. You and I know that there is more to it than that, but would Jeyne?

I'm probably one of the few people who think that the changes - making Jayne's storyline, Sansa's, was a good idea by the GOT showrunners. I've been bored with the Vale storylines in the last two books and it seems to be moving slowly. I'm not sure I would want to watch her comforting a crying Robin or constantly hiding her identity would be interesting, especially for casual viewers. They tried to keep the Baelish/Sansa story going, and for while, though ultimately, like the rest of of season 7s (& 8s) failed. I wonder what will come of the Vale plots? Personally, I think Baelish will plan to murder Robin and perhaps making it at the hands of Harrold Hardying, Robin's heir. With House Arryn extinct, it will allow Littlefinger to climb the ladder and by marrying Sansa, (the heiress to the North and possible claimant to the Riverlands) his powerbase will grow further. Though, I might be entirely wrong. I just don't want to read about plots, within plots within plots that go nowhere as we saw with the Sansa/Baelish/Arya storyline in Season 7.
