It's one of my favorites too, and it stood out to me as one where we could do something really cool putting our own spin on the track. :) I'm so happy you enjoyed it!!!

Thank you!! We had such great source materia to work with, here (yes, I miss-typed that, but I'm just going to leave it, haha) from Uematsu-san and Hamauzu-san, I'm just happy we could come close to doing it justice! :D

Such beautiful playing! Loving those enharmonics. Amazing the sounds that can be done with just cello and piano

Thank you!! It was definitely a process, experimenting and figure how to get the right feel for this track with just a cello and a piano, but I'm super pleased with how it came out. 🙂

Anyone know if 0:57 onward is part of another song from the series? It sounds so familiar, but its obviously not part of Aerith's theme.
@IsrafelCello4 жыл бұрын
Interesting question! I know once you hit 1:10, it is Aerith's theme, just completely reharmonized. But the other material, if it's from another part of the series, I'm not aware. Interestingly, on the soundtrack, Both Masashi Hamauzu and Nobuo Uematsu are credited on this track. My assumption, knowing what I do about the composition of the OST, was that Uematsu is credited for the Aerith's theme melody and probably a general concept for the song, Hamauzu probably did the arrangement and composed some original material to sort of "glue it together." But I could be wrong, so happy to hear if anyone else has a take on this.

It might be referencing Waiting to be Found, a theme from the Train Graveyard chapter when Aerith is lost? I can see why they’d allude to it when she finds a little girl, left all alone. Edit: Just tracked it down and nope, Waiting to be Found only came to mind because of Aerith’s reharmonized theme (which is definitely present). I could swear I’ve heard that counter-melody-like short bit leading into the reharmonized theme at another point in the OST though!

IsrafelCello oh I can’t imagine! I just have to say, your expression while playing is out of this world. Most music is listened to just with audio, but seeing a performer in flow, channeling pure creation, is just something else entirely. That heavily contributed to the feelings haha!
