Owner Jeff Paulson Showcases His Unique Restoration Shop
Since focusing his business on airplane repair and restorations in 2003, Jeff Paulson and his team have completed award-winning restorations from a Curtiss-Wright CW-1 Junior to a Fairchild 24; the companys full restoration of a 1929 Travel Air 4000 won Grand Champion at the Arlington Fly-In and Sport Convention in 2005. Based in Scappoose, Oregon, Evergreen Aviation Services and Restorations rebuilds from partial restorations, such as simple repairs and modifications, to complete restorations and re-assembly.
Able to work with fabric, wood, and metal, most project work can be completed within the companys facilities. From fabricating wings, tail surfaces, or fuselages, Evergreen Aviation Services and Restorations has their own source for old growth Sitka spruce and aircraft plywood. In addition, the company specializes in a unique fabric covering system called Air-Tech. The Air-Tech coating system utilizes the latest in polyurethane technology, offering exceptional strength while still remaining flexible. Contrary to the standard doping process, the substantial color palette available allows an aircraft to be finished in all matching colors from the fabric to the metal components.
Currently, Paulson and his crew are restoring a Waco UPF-7, a 1946 J-3 Cub, and a full size replica of the rare 1933 Stinson Model O. Originally constructed using modified wings, tail, landing gear and firewall forward of a Reliant, only ten aircraft were built in the world. Most recently, the Stinson Model O had its first engine test run for which it passed with flying colors. Join Aero-TV as Paulson explains what it takes to transform a passion into a full-time career.
