Here I demonstrate two possible ways to takeoff and also a few possible landing scenarios for the club owned 1946 Aeronca Champ 7AC. This video was meant for our club members, but it may be if use to anyone who owns or flies a champ.
This is a club owned aircraft in a newly formed light sport aircraft club. We purchased it in April 2020. I am one of the two CFI’s giving transition training to our club members.
This aircraft has a C-85-12 with electric start and an alternator. It has a the Bill Pancake STC which allows for that engine setup and also a gross weight increase to 1320 lbs. It was stripped down and recovered In 2012 along with a rebuilt engine.
Here are a few general performance specs:
Vx - 55 mph
Vy - 60 mph
VnE - 129 mph
Cruise - 90-95 mph
Cruise RPM - 2100 to 2150
Stall - 38 mph published (42 mph indicated)
Empty weight - fat 😭
