I had a similar experience nearly twenty years ago with Qantas. It was not a safety issue, rather, disorganisation, I suspect, reflected with the dire service on the ground in Singapore. In effect, I missed a full day in London which was a major irritation. As you said, safety first, but it is annoying when it is not because of safety! Thank you for the video!

Wonderful making what could be a bad situation interesting. Nice Primark outfit. American Airlines put me in a nice hotel in Dallas. Texas when they lost my DOG! Hi Iwan,was there not another flight they could put you on?Glad you did this video ,I'm always interested in airport hotels and how they can connect to the airport.I would catch up on things like deleting stuff on phone and laptop,go to the gym,have a bath,in a way your forced to relax.Hope the rest of your trip goes to plan❤❤❤❤❤❤

What a shame, it sounds like you may not make it to the sunshine. I was on a flight to Tunisia some years ago that had to turn back, but we stayed on the plane and they fixed the ‘technical problem’ and we took off some hours later. More recently I was flying back to Heathrow from Bali and was stuck in Kuala Lumpur Airport for 24 hours- the plane was boarded but the door was damaged when they removed the air bridge. There was no compensation for that but we did get hotel accommodation. At least it happened on the way home and not going out ❤

Had the same thing happen to me....was flying from Dusseldorf to Edinburgh and was over Newcastle when captain announced a technical issue and took us all back to Dusseldorf 😮 nobody believed me that it happened except for my boss who was an avid plane-geek and was tracking my flight live....you will get statutory compensation from the airline and will be able to claim back your expenses (minus alcohol 🤪probably) At least my cancelled flight was on my return leg, not on my outbound....hope you managed to get away somewhere🙏

Good luck! I got stuck in Istanbul for 4 days, June 2015 on my way to Egypt. That is a story to tell! The evening of my arrival, I heard on the news that a bomb had gone off at one of the airports in Istanbul. I wasn't on holiday, I was working! Family was very worried😐

Id be gutted then raging !! Hope you get somewhere !! I find with the phone when they ask what you want in a few words say nothing. Then it normally says didnt catch that and then will transfer you to someone. Can be way quicker.

I got stuck in Berlin on the way home some years ago. That was with BA. It wasn't an experience to be repeated! Eventually got to the hotel they found me at 3am and had a taxi booked to pick me up the next morning at 6am! At least I was able to be able to lie down and turn the light off. Didn't much fancy a night at the airport on my own!

Oh no what a palaver. BA should have included drinks with your dinner.. even if its only 1. We've stayed at the Hilton at Stansted, which also included our car parking for the week. Aww, Mr C! Yep, been there 😂. I’ve had redirected flights due to fog, cancelled flights due to technical issues with the aeroplane just a couple of hours before check in, put on standby not knowing when we will get home, and one particularly hair-raising moment when we we were about to check in for a flight to be then warned by a member of staff to get on the earlier flight if we can as the airline may go out of business later that day - we got to our destination ok and the firm (Italian Airways) didn’t go under. Can’t wait for the next instalment! 💚🧡💚🧡

Ahh never mind, hopefully you'll be away in the sun on your next vlog - HATE all these automated phone lines!!! So frustrating! Yes I have been on a flight that turned around and went back home but we were practically landing at the destination and due to poor, low visibility the plane suddenly shot back up in the air!!! Scary. We were also put up in a Hilton airport hotel and given vouchers for food etc - it was actually quite nice. If we are flying from our local airport we always now book the same hotel, it's like a nice start to the holiday!

We were flying to Toronto from Glasgow, issue with plane meant we were taken to Newcastle by bus and flew from there. Half way across the Atlantic there were engine problems.. we landed in Shannon and spent 12 hours waiting for a new plane to come.. and then flew to Toronto. 😅

I’m so sorry you’ve had to experience this when you should have been in the sunshine Iwan. I hope it’s all sorted out satisfactorily for you. I had a horrible experience (with my ex) travelling home from Catania, Sicily we lost an engine and were told to expect a crash landing at Naples where fire engines and ambulances were awaiting. It was so traumatic! We had to stay in a Naples Hotel when they eventually sorted everyone out and were to fly to Gatwick the following day. We were then told the flight had been delayed as the previous flight had hit a flock of birds and the runway had to be cleared 🤦‍♀️ Fortunately, we were given business class and we eventually arrived home. Nerves fraught and then having to go through claims for compensation etc., Best wishes ✈️☀️🤞🏼

I have experienced this with a BA flight from Barcelona to London 2 years ago. BA did eventually booked us on a Vueling flight back to Gatwick, I am surprised this was not offered to you?. The Hilton is a nice hotel, stayed there may times, we will be staying in the Sofitel Hotel when we are travelling to Gran Canaria next month. Hopefully all resolved with you now, BA are very good with paying expenses 😎

We had a similar situation recently about 2 weeks ago with BA flying to Tampa Florida from south terminal at Gatwick. Flight delayed 6 hours (we had 2 of those sitting on the plane) then they deplaned everyone. Luckily managed to fly out the following day at 3pm. They were very vague about the specific time of the rearranged flight until 10am that day. We did get there in the end though. We stayed in the Bloc Hotel in south terminal. It was very good to be fair. We booked the hotel ourselves but BA did reemburse and compensated us for the delays. I hope you got your compensation from BA? Xxx PS I love your videos!
