This vacuum cleaner is the best hands down. I own 3 of them cause I had a residential cleaning business for over 21 years

I grew up with the Olympia One canister my folks bought back in late 1980. Of course that vacuum and I parted ways as I grew and got out of the house. My folks had that machine until various changes in life occurred and that machine was given to a new owner back in 2000. I currently own the Lux classic 90th anniversary edition. It has all the trimmings including the original Sidekick. Yes IT’s an investment in your home, it’s durable and reliable and it performs consistently. I commercially clean in an insurance company and have for 30 years now. I’ve used lots of different commercial equipment Windsor, Clarke, Tornado etc etc… but nothing quite fits me like an Aerus even though that’s my own personal machine. It never disappoints!

Great machine! I have a Electrolux Epic 6500SR, and it never ceases to amaze me how well it cleans and how convenient to use. The only things I can knock it for is the bags are small, micro filter on the exhaust is a bit outdated, the hose handle is a bit bulky and needs a better suction relief control, and the dusting brush tries to suck down to furniture. However, the dusting brush issue is solved by using one from a Electrolux Guardian (first one that uses the R bags), you can use the pistol grip hose from the Lux Classic for furniture cleaning and that solves the bulky hose handle and suction relief valve issue, and I used a old hose end with a short 35 mm tube to allow it to use a Miele KK HEPA Cloth bag on the exhaust instead of the micro filter. No way to resolve the small bag issue, but I can live with it for how cheap they are to buy in bulk, and I really like the Automatic Control customizable bag change feature. As much as I like the Lux Legacy, though, I would STRONGLY RECOMMEND anyone considering buying this model to buy a Electrolux Epic 6500SR instead and have it refurbished by a local shop and a new motor installed. The double stage motors made by Electro Motor are still available, just as powerful as the Chinese made Johnson Electric (JEI) motor in the Classic and the Legacy, and will last considerably longer than the Johnson Electric motor will. If you do that, you will have a machine that will truly last a lifetime. There is even a upgraded version of that motor that will even pull 117" waterlift and outperform the Lux Legacy considerably. In fact, that upgraded motor will make it have the same performance as the Guardian Platinum.

I agree. One warning. Electromotor Inc.sells two motors that are direct replacements for the two stage motor in the SR6500. One is less expensive, has flat fans and not a lot of power. It's called 6500-293 rated at 285 peak air watts. Don't buy that motor. The motor that came in the SR6500, 6500-274, has 320 peak air watts so it would be a downgrade from the original. The motor to buy is their new conical fan motor called 6500-298. That motor is rated to 438 peak air watts. You will definitely notice a huge difference in airflow and suction. I swapped the original 6500-274 in my Epic 8000 with the 6500-298 and literally doubled the airflow at the hose end from 33 cfm to 66-67cfm. It has more airflow than a new Guardian Platinum. That is the way to go. 6500-298. Put that in your refurbished and sanitized SR6500.

Aerus is Greek for air.. In German , Danish, Swedish, Norwegian , the word "LUFT" meaning air in English would be much better than Aerus... I recommend Aerus very Highly.. I have got a old Electrolux Silverado Deluxe... It still works. very well to this today.. Wal Mart vacuum cleaners are down right "Scrap." You get very good quality with Areus..

The Silverado was one of the all time great Electroluxes. Early Diamond Jubilees and even some Olympia's had motor problems, as did early Model 1521s that came after the Silverado. But the Silverado was one of those machines that came off the production line with no weaknesses or flaws. Superb, durable machines.

I love Aerus and Electrolux vacuums. My only heartburn is that I cannot buy repair parts for them. I have older Kenmore's and every part is available on Sears Parts Direct. When a hose latch broke a few months back on my 11-12 year old Elite canister, I bought a new part from Kenmore and did the repair in a few minutes at home. However I need a genuine Aerus power nozzle motor for my old SR6500 and no dealer will sell it to me. The original motor has three wires connected to it with female spade connectors. The motor has three male spade posts the wires attach to. But aftermarket motors that are billed as replacements for Aerus power nozzles have two wires fixed to the motor with bare ends. No connectors and only two wires. Not sure how that is supposed to work. I prefer to use OEM parts but I can't buy them. The dealers say I have to bring the pn to them to fix, something I can do in 30 minutes max on my workbench. The nearest dealer is 2 1/2 - 3 hours away. I can get any part I need for a Tristar but not for an Aerus. I also want to buy a spare main board for my Guardian Platinum and stash that away but again, it is unobtainium unless you bring the whole vacuum to the dealer and pay to have it installed (my fear is that the G-P will go out of production since it has been around for over ten years and after Kolektor stops making them there will be no parts anywhere). So that aspect of Aerus customer service is not working for me. It is really my only gripe because the vacuums work beautifully and last forever.

Phil if you call Aerus in salt lake city and talk to Brian he will help you get whatever part you are looking for, they are genuine parts and they are Great to work with, There are also Generic OEM parts at most vacuum shops that will work as well, i suggest if you buy there brush rolls you use the old Bearing and Gear ends but the brush i pretty much the same thing,

The Lux Legacy design with the onboard tool tray is 30 years old this year (A.D. 2022); however the original Canadian design without the tool tray is 40 years old. That original cleaner was named 'E-2000'. When the Canadian and American Electrolux affiliates merged in 1985, the model name and model number changed to Hi-Tech 2100, followed by the Epic 6000 and 6500 Series (in various successive model numbers signifying color and internal changes), then Lux 7000 and since 2014 Lux Legacy. The model number of the one in this video is C153E, the model number of the power nozzle is N137Z, and the model number of the mini pn is K148D. Aerus LLC outsources most if not all its production and simply assembles and distributes its cleaners. Motors are made in Hong Kong.

Actually, it goes back much further than that. Here in Canada, the E2000 was a restyled version of the Electrolux AP100, which was introduced in 1974.
@paco3343
@paco3343 2 жыл бұрын
@@robwalton2007 Well, first of all the All-Plastic series debuted in A.D. 1973, which was an update of the 80-series, which was an update of the 50-series, and on. I was speaking only of the current style that began with the electronics--the automatic E-2000 and the non-automatic E-Special.
@robwalton2007
@robwalton2007 2 жыл бұрын
@@paco3343 Ok, for starters, the 80 series was NOT a update of the 50 series. That was a entirely new design. Same with the AP series. When the AP100 was released in 1974, it was entirely new! Even the motor was different. And that model was the first model to have the Automatic Control bag change system, or the "electronics" as you like to call them, that was not entirely mechanical like it was with the 80 series. Go ahead & look at this photo of a AP100, you will see that it's literally a 1970s styled version of the E2000. So that's where it all began, NOT in the 1980s when the 2 Electrolux divisions merged together. www.vacuumland.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?1828

Let be Honest most of these machines will last more like 40 years with good care, i am still using my 30 year old Renaissance Daily and i love this machine, i also have a epic 6000 Sr from 1992 that is basically the same machine but with the steel wands and not the plastic ones that runs like a champ, the only real problems with these machines are the Power nozzle necks, they are just not made to hold up over time but if you get a couple of them when you get the machine your are pretty much set for life,

I bought a clean used Guardian Platinum canister and equipped it with a hose for the European version, the Lux Intelligence Premium but had to remove the Blue-tooth controls on the hose handle (the Intelligence uses Bluetooth on the hose to turn the vacuum on and off, change motor speeds and turn the power nozzle on) and replace them with a conventional rocker switch to turn the power nozzle on, a switch taken from another Lux International hose that has the same basic handle design. Then I put the Lux Intelligence wand on it and run this with a Sebo ET-1 power nozzle. To make the Sebo fit I had to source a different neck that Sebo made for use with Lux wands, as there were certain models sold that could be equipped with a Lux branded Sebo ET-2. It was an interesting conversion and in use feels much more refined than the old plastic Aerus wands and noisy old PN. I wish I could post some images of it here!

I sold those as well as the Renaissance/Guardians, 3500 uprights, and those lackluster shampooers when they were still Electrolux in the mid 90's. Ridiculously overpriced. I always felt bad when I sold one, I felt like I was stealing old lady's money. I was that door-to-door sales guy. I have So much regret about that job.

Hey Bryan, interesting perspective. I’m sure there are a lot of ex Lux sales people that feel the same way. My experience has given me a much different perspective and outlook on higher priced, better quality, longer lasting Vacuums. I started selling Electrolux Vacuums door to door back in 1982 when I was just 18. I still have the same customer today, almost 40 years later who are using the same vacuum. Sure, they paid more than most for their vacuums but they’ve used that same vacuum for 40 years to protect their home. Funny thing, for the most part, I felt good about selling a high quality product that I could stand behind and knew was going to serve the customer well. Maybe because I wasn’t just selling to “old Lady’s.”

@@KickassVacuums ya, we don't even have an Aerus/Electrolux shop in Toledo anymore. I think the closest shop is 2hrs away. When Elux closed the Toledo office I had people calling me for years wanting bags or service etc. many people calling me and threatening to sue me bc they couldn't get warranty work done. I already left Elux at that point so I didn't know what to tell them. The only reason only old ppl were buying my product was the WalMart effect. We have so many WalMart stores around here I couldn't convince the younger people to spend the extra cash on an Electrolux. They would rather spend $129/yr for the next 20 yrs on a new Dirt Devil or Hoover Tempo. I personally own a Sebo G4 now and use the Windsor Axcess in my carpet cleaning company.

@@KickassVacuums I always like the Windsor for use in the field, especially the Axcess (Felix) because of its smaller footprint in my trucks. So it wasn't a far leap for me to buy the Sebo for personal use. I like the manual height adjustment over the auto however. It always seemed like the auto height adjustment on the Windsor Sensor was just skimming the top. That's why I went to the Axcess and chose the Essential G4 for my home. Good chatting with you. Vacuums have inadvertently become an interest to me. Do a lot of research on the latest technology. Hence the reason I stay with bagged. Bagless is a step backwards in my opinion.
