This is a little off topic from my normal electronics videos but it is still fixing something. On the way back from a weekend trip Gwendolyn, my 20 foot RV, decided to do an emergency coolant dump on I70 outside of Columbus. I have tow insurance thank goodness and got her back home. That was last fall. Now it is time to fix her so Linda and I can go on some trips. This is me doing wrenching.

Roof leaks are super easy to fix. I used paint sealer around all of the vents and top windows and done. The roofs were originally fairly strong, but if leaks have been there for a while the roof may be rotten.

Roof was beyond rotten. Whatever they called that excuse for wood looked like a million termites had a feast.

Gosh, sorry but I don't have any suggestions. I don't remember having to take that bracket loose. Best advice I can give is watch a bunch of KZbin videos and look carefully at that area.

Hi, I've just bought the exact same model, a 1980 Chevrolet g30 coachmen 20ft. Just wondering how rare they are as I had never seen one here in the UK, England before now. I can't wait to get started on her
@AERVBlog

I don't think they are that rare it is just that not many have made it this long. They aren't built all that well. Good luck with yours and happy caravaning.

No. Not hard at all. One reason I bought a 350, parts are cheap and easy to find.

What was the process for removing the radiator and shroud?
@AERVBlog
@AERVBlog 2 жыл бұрын
As I remember the shroud is just held on by two bolts on either side and the bottom drops into brackets. The radiator is about the same. Once you get the hoses off it just pulls out from the top. I didn't have a condenser coil since the air conditioner had been removed but if you do you will probably have to leave it in since taking it out would require you to disconnect the pipes and that would lose all the refrigerant.

What did you do to fix the leak?
@AERVBlog
@AERVBlog 3 жыл бұрын
That is the never ending question. I tried everything but eventually ended up covering the entire top with the stuff they use in Florida for rubber roofs on lanais. It lasted about 2 years. For temporary or emergency repairs I used Flextape and Flexseal. That stuff actually works.

Do you know where I can get a speed sensor
@AERVBlog
@AERVBlog Жыл бұрын
I usually used Rock Auto. They seem to have almost anything you would need. I looked and there are several speed sensors but it depends on what you have.

Sorry aboiut that. It was just me and a camera. It is really easy though except for the permanent dent in your sternum from the hood latch.

@@theslysmoker6458 if yours still has the shroud you have to take that off first and the radiator has to come out too. Is it the radiator that is stuck because of the AC hose?

I canned my radiator shroud put two electric fans and write directly on the radiator increases the power makes the air conditioner work better everything is better and if you have to get in there again it's easy to get to the water pump

That sounds like a good idea. I don't know if I will be doing much to the old girl though. She gave me a good 20K miles and now is a bit tired at 88K. Considering how little I gave for her she doesn't owe me anything.

@@peterrichardsphoto it is cheep and easy i got 2 fans today for a different project . you buy a kit for wiring harness one wire go's to AC pump the other go's to water temp sensor the other wires go to the fans they give you these long type of zip ties that go through the radiator and connects the fan to it it's a lot of videos on KZbin on how to do it I have them in my van in my van always runs cool

@@AERVBlog Right!..? It didn't improve in time. Like the fuel line fittings are all metric with special o rings and you can't buy them at any local auto parts store, and there are special tools required to access certain parts on my 96 6.5L, if you want to access it without taking off a ton of crap. There's an entertaining vid on the 6.5 the guy talks about GM engineers lol kzbin.info/www/bejne/fX2vpaOuaJmfec0

@@AERVBlog I don't blame you! I have the identical camper, bought it with water damage, fully gutted it, now I'm in process of repair & restore. Let me just say it's alot more work than people think! I've been going strong for more than a year (nights & weekends mostly) but I still have tons of work to do! But I love her, and think it's worth it. One of the problems I'm having is there's very little info out there on this model, year, so trying to get info or diagrams seems almost impossible... Thanks for responding to my original comment. I never messed with the AC on the engine. It was the old style and filling it up was a problem and expensive. If I needed AC i just started the generator and ran the big AC in the back. Not efficient but it worked.Gwendolyn is off on another adventure with a new owner.
