Keys by Asher Fulero
LYRICS:
I could might investigate a exodus
I could find the energy to fetch us
Something dead to skin and beverages
I will not be connecting or checking messages
You’ll know I’m made it when it’s raining salt and pepper squid
Salt and pepper squid
Salt and pepper squid
Salt and pepper squid
Aes gets a gold star, sophistry gets no cigar
Homies get to chauffeur the only rapper with no car
Sorry Mike, Ford Exploder motor sounding outraged
Pedal-foot a carving knife through a blind mouse tail
Me, I call shotty forever in all conditions
Recline it way back to take the pressure off the stitches
They gave me 90 Oxys of which zero were of interest
Chewing shrooms at waterfront in coveralls from the Olympics
Limpin, I like to help the younger rippers clip up
A little hype to re-ignite the nimbus when they hiccup
How’s your weekend, is it house on a beach with a view, and tea for two? Round here the beach is a fountain, the view is tweaker soup
Zoom lens Jesus, I’m used to the heat wavin’
Immune to the urine cooked into every meter of pavement
Scrolling credits over dehydrated DNA
10 pm, PSA, I forgot to eat today
I could might investigate a exodus
I could find the energy to fetch us
Something dead to skin and beverages
I will not be connecting or checking messages
You’ll know I’m made it when it’s raining salt and pepper squid
Salt and pepper squid
Salt and pepper squid
Salt and pepper squid
I suitcase squat 2 boxes of cat litter
Then bop to my 8 o’clock at a vacant lot by the river
I’m here to see a friend jump off a bridge because his friend did
To us that’s what a friend is, what a terrible question
I’m sorry 'bout your friendships, we were done by 11 and ghost
Shout to the callers who got the FD to check if he’s toast
He’s not we had disgusting coffee after
Forgot to grab a snack, there’s always other flags to capture
When you activate a traveling act
Set a flash up at the rapture in a jacket that says “Staff” on the back
Not a stringer, just familiar with some people who crash
Like it’s an actual feature of being at peace with they craft
Look... stop leaving needles at the courts
Leave more free boards
Peel around the puddles that could peel the paint, feeling faint
Ain't seeing straight, I forgot to eat today
I could might investigate a exodus
I could find the energy to fetch us
Something dead to skin and beverages
I will not be connecting or checking messages
You’ll know I’m made it when it’s raining salt and pepper squid
Salt and pepper squid
Salt and pepper squid
Salt and pepper squid
I have one brain cell,
All it do is hum Bad Brains and document whoever sleigh bells raise hell
Triple dog dares get thrown around with no discretion
If you getting kinda froggy come and trip the motion sensor
Yea, perfect foul energy, every degree of D-up
My Kwik-E-Mart receipt is tall enough to ride the tea cups
The stuntmen all get perfect 10s, 11s if you hit the pole
Bonus for the sticks and stones, the kid ain’t fixing shit in post
Only church to consecrate the jersey barrier
A worthy adversary for any commercial carrier
Granted I’m all landing gear, post-op and propped up
Coat rack, spotting cars, wanderlust proper fucked
We’re doing what we can considering the frame we’re left with
Waves of desperate people lighting fires and waving melee weapons
Dog in the trash at the pizza place
That’s a good idea, dog, I forgot to eat today

@@melvinjansen2338 Please eat bro. Hunger only makes stress worse. I speak from too much experience there lol. ADHD + stress + caffiene + nicotine... the ultimate insight I got from that loop, is every single one of those things compounds on the next and they sort of justify one another. Gotta keep the wheel turning or you crash, basically. Is it weird if I call it a dependency on stress? It's not the first one. You start with stress you don't want, and then comes a cope you do want. Eventually, that cope becomes less desirable but you can't drop it. And that's when the dependency flips to the stress... you need the stress to justify the neglect elsewhere. This can then compound into more layers of bad habits that prop up the original stress. It becomes hard to suss where it even comes from because it erodes your old baseline.. It's some kind of stress-rhythm. Hope by now you've crashed and ate. Shit steals so much HP, that a normal equilibrium feels almost dreamlike. You're playin Fallout with a half-full rad sickness bar, losing stats. The stress itself brings this physical dissociation and mental detachment that makes it go past you. It's hard to keep a good narrative of that when your blood sugar is everywhere and your memory is tanking. Things get worse over time, but it's hard to tell because your starved brain doesn't have the calories to track how shit is really going down, where your thoughts are. I fuckin hate that shit man. I know that whole feeling of driving and realizing I can't really see right and the car feels weird because I can't move right... because I've been running on the stress capacitors for hours of days of weeks. Shut off unnecessary impulses, reroute all spare power gained to capacitor banks, which provide the jolts to keep the wheel turning. That's what's happening, I think. You lose awareness of body signals in order to get the mojo you need to focus on what you need to deal with. It's like one of those buffs that gives you abilities against all odds, but at the expense of other stats... only usable at 50% HP or below. It's an interesting experience I guess. I get in this mode... and I've always had it since I was a kid. I bounce across creative endeavors, all of these projects that require me picking up a lot of new stuff. When I find a good one, all I want to do is explore it, and it becomes this obsession that drags me through sunrises where I would find I haven't eaten since late the previous morning... and that was the first thing I ate that day. I look back and realize I've killed a pot of coffee, and a pack and a half of 27's. Look in the mirror to find a pale, flushed, gaunt, shiny ghoul looking back with exasperated eyes, not so much pried open as hamstrung like busted curtains rolled up over the window frame. But at the same time, my mind is buzzing with ideas about 'the thing' and it's like this endless world of interesting stuff. Just not enough time. The need for food and sleep just feels like a burden. That's hypomania, minimum, FWIW. Normal people don't do shit like this. Not that it's bad to be abnormal. I appreciate it more the older I get. But part of that was learning how to wrangle that beast, bleed some of it off. Not let my reaction to stress guide me into those death spirals. Really, the worst part is what it does to the spirit over time... kinda hollows you out. The more time passes, the more work there is for the axe, the more water there is to carry. It becomes sunken cost "I'm already on this janky ride, lets see it through." And then you go and do things that perpetuate the loop all on your own, driving the stress back around. Chopping wood and carrying water can be far easier in the long run, but it's hard to see that when one is chronically entrenched in the sludge-trudge. Water and firewood feel like the last things you should worry about, "If only I had the luxury," you'll tell yourself at each impasse. It's just... those kinds of habits are way worse for you than it even feels at the time. I had to whip the shit out of myself to stop coping with stress that way. Now, I associate eating with losing stress. Sometimes, it feels like my whole body is tense... like my chest is raised another 1/4" every hour. It's easy to get niched out when it feels like you're always overburdened, you get used to the swerves, like driving on bad tires. You almost forget how to breathe normally. And then I grab a bite of something and it all falls off, I let out a breath that I feel like I've been holding for I don't know how long. I also never have coffee without a snack. Way easier on the gut, less appetite loss. Not to mention, caffeine is so much more enjoyable as a drug when you put gas in the tank. Nothin better than a smoke after a meal, neither. Those are some of the best ones. Everything is better with gas in the tank, honestly. Mind and body? Same thing. What is your mind if not a manifestation of brain function, the output of another organ interdependent on that same body? If you let your body go, so will your mind - and vice versa. Hence it is a feedback loop. That's the TL;DR.

I keep thinking about a line that jumped down at me the first time I heard it, then that capping sentiment…shheeeesh… wonderfully articulated doesn’t hit enough of a resonance point in its response for me. “I'm here to see a friend jump off a bridge because his friend did To us that's what a friend is, what a terrible question” …Aes, Goddaaaaaamn, dude, this thing is an absolute MONSTER of a line, and a beautiful piece of writing, to add. All the kudos in the world. ❤

"We’re doing what we can considering the frame we’re left with Waves of desperate people lighting fires and waving melee weapons" - how did you all interpret this? I be taking it out of context or reading into it wrong. (if this about all the riots going on the past few yrs...pretty sure that isn't desperation but fear and wanting to fit in but hey to each theyre own) I like the rest of the song especially not taking the opiates prescribed and just eating shrooms to escape the pain.

"as passivity becomes extreme in the bulk of society, a sizeable segment of citizens detaches itself from the dream-locked majority. As vulgarity and stupidity thicken, more and more people awaken to the intolerability of their condition. Much can be done to foster this state of awareness, even though little can be done directly to change the policies of those in control today of the media of communication." - Marshall McLuhan We are stuck trying to stick square pegs into round holes. Desperation stems from fear. You can't only assume that Aesop is referring to the BLM riots specifically. I think he's generalizing. There are countless examples to draw from when it comes to large groups of people protesting and it becoming violent.
