I read somewhere on twitter, but the theory behind Spicy is their lore in the REAL WORLD. After Naevis sacrifice herself to help aespa's fight with Black Mamba in KWANGYA, she was then blacked out and somehow transferred into the REAL WORLD realm. This can be find in aespa's Girls lyrics where Winter sings "Naevis on the real my world". Now what is REAL WORLD? Before meeting Black Mamba and going to KWANGYA, aespa was in the Real World living their lives. Sometimes, they got a visit from their ae (who lives in FLAT) during a phenomenon called REKALL (it's where the SYNK between aespa and ae-aespa are full, so the ae can come to REAL WORLD for some time). With Spicy, they are once again back to Real World after the fight with Black Mamba. BUT, some theory said that SPICY era is not about the aespa we know, it's about aespa in another timeline/another universe. I personally dont really hold to this theory, but I kinda like it. There's also one more theory (not really, but rather the obvious lore they're showing), which is they're back to Real World but now there's a thing called "A Strange Phenomenon" happening (which you can see in their teaser pictures and stuff). People believe that "A Strange Phenomenon" is caused by the new Villain aespa about to face. During the Spicy music video, you can see they start the MV with a foreshadow to the strange phenomenon, and then in the chorus, the glitch appeared once again. In the second pre-chorus, you can see the time stops at 11:59:49, and in the second chorus, aespa was the only one NOT AFFECTED by the glitch (as everyone was in freeze). And at some point in the video, you can see a magazine/sign that says like "aespa did it again"/"spicy girls did it again" or something (which is also in the cover of their physical album tabloid ver). People theorize that everybody knows aespa is not being affected and is saving them every midnight at 11:59 when the strange phenomenon reached its peak. So far, neither of the theory is confirmed, we just have to wait until SMCU Season 2 i guess ...

Idk if this will make sense, but even though Next Level is still my favorite tt of theirs, SPICY is my fav comeback so far. Like it just feels so impactful. Love the looks, the song, and the overall vibe. And like what you said, it felt like a huge slap to the face (but in a great way lol).

My thoughts on why SM started the Track Video promotions for such groups as WayV and now aespa. It was a direct result of Kakao's investment in the company after the debacle with Lee Soo-man in the first quarter of the year which staggered the release schedules of all the artists on the SM roster. With new money and a company that's heavily invested in SNS within Korea it only made sense for them to promote the hell out of My World. So now we have a Track Video for every song on the third mini album within aespa's young career. If you worked A&R for a label and were trying to crack the secret on how to get your artists to sell more units globally. Don't you think you'd go all in on every song if you knew that album was a bona fide smash with literally no flaws. I can definitely see other labels and artists repeating this if they know that more clicks an views result in more physical copies of albums being sold exclusively from country to country.

Khadijah, I really appreciate you starting your own channel as someone who watched RiVerse Reacts series from the beginning!
