You were right that Winter did strangle Tony with the telephone wire. You can see towards the end she had her hands seemingly around his neck from the angle for a prolonged period which it seems like is what she was trying to do the entire time, but he was trying to fight back

Giselle's story is about her being brave and rebellious. Becky is a narcissistic housemate/friend (?) who wants to control Giselle by spreads rumors about Giselle. She thinks Giselle will be nothing without her. Then, Giselle went to an audition for acting. She reenacting the brave and rebellious character like she did to Becky but the judges thinks it doesn't fit her. The male judge told her to be passive and insecure character. She disagreed just like when she left Becky after she was told that isn't her.
