Hi Minori, I just saw your video sorry for my late comment. I make watercolour paints for my hobby. What i need to tell you is that before you do the actual paint making there are some safety measure you need to set in place. First a well ventilated room pigment particles can be toxic they can go in the air and you can breath them in, so always have the window open. Second base on that point that pigment particles can be toxic always always ensure you are wearing facemask, gloves and eye goggles if you want. Do not wear long sleeves clothing because pigment and paints can stained your clothing during the modding process. This is not a safety measure it is just something i normally do when i have pigments that are presented like rocks like yours are. I have pestle and mortar and normal I crush my rocks before mixing them. I also use measuring spoons to measure my ingredients before using too much. I did love seeing that store and would love to visit it some day,

At 4:14. Those things are ink stones. You use them to grind ink sticks on. It's how they made inks a long time ago. For paintings or calligraphy. Maybe look into Nihonga or Japanese mineral paintings too.

Much like with cooking, I would imagine that the satisfaction of creating everything from scratch in your art would give you an innate sense of self-satisfaction. I don’t go around patting myself on the back for cooking with nothing but base ingredients, but just knowing that I created everything from scratch just makes me feel proud of myself (especially since I sliced my first gravy - true story!). I am 100% positive that you will have fun planning your art projects knowing the perfect colours are only a few swirling motions away! I truly enjoy your videos, Minori, and love that you still have (and don’t get offended here, it’s meant as a compliment) your sense of childlike wonder. I share that trait, and as I will be 60 one month from today, you can be assured that I do NOT count it as a bad thing. Hugs from Canada’s Arctic (where it SNOWED yesterday ☹️)❣️❣️❣️🇨🇦

here's an idea, ive been wanting to do it but dont yet have the resources you can do drawings (flowers or desserts etc) and make a sort of watercolour colouring pad/ book but it'll be a colour/ paint by number, you make the colours exactly as you want it and make a certain amount and sell them so basically a paint by number painting pad (or i guess a moderately sized piece), you use your own drawings and just print on the appropriate paper (you can print on watercolour paper and acrylic paper), and you make and supply your own paints i think it'll be lots of fun, for you and your viewers also, really fun video, im glad you did this because its smth ive been wanting to do for a while, glad you got to do it and enjoyed it : )

4:35 They were used in Ancient days they are ink u need to rub the middle in the ink place with Water and used it to make Traditional Calligraphies .
@Kaizen4258 ай бұрын
Those black stones you saw there are called suzuri used for Shodo (Japanese caligraphy), what you do is you ground sumi (ink stick) on a little bit of water and use a fude (brush) you draw the lines. Now a days shodo helps people to focus, but back in the days people such as Samurais would use it, not only to cumunicate, but to meditate as the whole process is understood as a "flow" procces. Every movemet follows the other. From grounding the ink until the last stroke. Xuan paper or rice paper is used for this beautiful art. Hopefully you can make a video of it! You might find it soothing.

Oh I love making watercolors! My paint making setup is much less professional though- got a glass cutting board and some canning weights (diy muller) off Amazon. Even if you don’t plan on long term storage I’d recommend adding honey just in case- but the only definite advice I’d give is to wear a mask. Not for the smell but the pigment powders get in the air and you don’t realize until you blow your nose and you’ve got purple snot.
