The only reason she is more prominent is because of the card "Triumph of Ferocity". 'Some' people (you know who) screeched at Wizards over that card. They said it depicted Garruk doing... non-consensual things with Liliana and they shelved him immediately.

It’s more a rules thing over lore but the 3 green planeswalkers all do different things, nissa is mana/ramp, Garruk is raw power and Vivian is more creature support. I think they all have different roles and things they can do.

Grant Mudie yeah I don’t see why we have to have one of each it could be equally symbolic to have the gate watch for groups of three to represent three colour factions and only have each group appear in one set or another. Let’s also not forget how she’s the literal reason the Eldrazi started to devour Zendikar. How her Oath was to prevent another world from falling like Zendikar but the second she fails (because the world was already dead and they had been advised against facing Lord Bolas) she fucks off.

Vivien was printed in core 19, before war of the spark. And with the help of her blew they fought bolas so I don t think that she should die, she s a great new plabeswalker, what do you want 20 years to have only Garruk printed?!?

Andrica Ion it’s a core set, it’s not story relèvent so they can still have printed Vivian in Core 20. But because she was designed for War of the Spark and to be a walker to fight Bolas, they should have killed her and Kaya off, and a few others too. We have other Green walkers we can use that aren’t Nissa and Garruk.

@@ZakanaHachihaCBC I know it was a core a set, I just said that she was printed then and how she was supposed to get killed because she partnered with Jace, Jaya and Teferi in that mission as you guys said that is supposing that all of them should have died, furthermore Bolas destroyed her land and It transported in her bow that s how the best archer and one of the greatest story In magic history appeared. In fact that bow right now contains the spirit of Zacama and others big behemoths, how s that not cool and how is better than she has to die, she s literally one of the best planeswalkers ever created.

It’s possible one of the main green planeswalkers pick up a second colour, so while they are no longer main green ‘walker they will be two colour ‘walker going forwards. Nissa has been blue before so she could be Simic going forwards also can use black mana (as in MTG origins) Vivien could also pick up red (unlucky there’s so many Gruul walkers) or black as she deals with animal ghosts

I personally think that there are too many green planeswalkers now. I imagined that Vivien was going to replace Garruk, as her base character seems somewhat similar, but then Garruk comes back in Eldraine. I also think that since we are going back to Zendikar (again), Nissa will likely make another appearance there as well. Story-wise, having multiple planeswalkers of the same colour can be a good thing, as it allows for some planeswalkers, like Nissa, to be specific to a certain plane. Before the Gatewatch, Nissa never left Zendikar, except during her Origin story, where she jumped to Lorwyn for a hot minute. In all other sets apart from original Zendikar, Garruk was the green planeswalker, because he had more of a vagabond nature to him. But now we have Vivien as well as Garruk, both of whom are depicted as wanderers. I think it's a little much honestly, but there likely won't ever be a time where more than one mono-green walker is in any given set. As far as Ikoria goes, Vivien is confirmed and it also seems like a place fitting for Kiora, so perhaps the new planeswalker will be black, or possibly black-red or black-blue (or maybe Esper, going on the industrialization of the natural world theme). WotC needs some way to balance out all of the green energy that is seemingly permeating Ikoria, or else players like me that don't really care for big stompy creatures will lose interest in the set very quickly.

Personal opinion: Kaya, Vivian and Ajani all should have died in War. Kaya and Vivian because they were literally only designed for the Lord Bolas arc. Ajani because it would have been very fitting for him to make a sacrifice of himself to help bring down Bolas, similar to what Gideon did for Lilliana, since Ajani was the one who clashed with Lord Bolas back on Alara and has a beef with him. So many deaths should have just happened, more then a bunch of nameless walkers, Gideon, Dack and Domri.
