Great balance of landscape, aerial and truck shots. The only thing I didn't like was the over-exposed shots. Keep em coming guys! Great inspiration.

I'm glad they took the Dempster instead of going to Prudhoe bay. The Canadian side is definitely better and you can actually get to the arctic ocean freely unlike the US side. I drove all the way there last year in my 86 1 ton 4wd Chevy. Adventure and a half for sure. Man and machine.

Was a pleasure meeting you guys in Inuvik. I love telling people about how great a drive the Dempster is and this video really helps illustrate how awesome this place really is.

drewsbay random as hell but are you familiar with the roads they took? I'm trying to get info together to go on a trip up there.

madman440 I lived in Inuvik for 3 years travelled the Dempster to Dawson City and Whitehorse all the time. I drove on those ice roads daily. The ice road to Tuk will be closed for good now because they are opening an all season road to Tuk this year so you can drive to the Arctic Ocean all year. That said the Ice road still goes as far as Aklavik and is still very cool. I have a video of it on my channel.

I went up in the middle of December 2015, but was too early for the Ice roads to be open, and the Dempster had been closed for most of the previous few weeks so I only spent a night in Inuvik. The ferry was getting close to shutting down and the being a warm winter there was a question on if it was going to be passable. It really depends on where you are coming from, but remember that maps do lie, Inuvik is about 2500 miles from Seattle, Wa where I live. The Dempster is the only way to get to Inuvik, and if you are not headed up in Summer 37 is mostly shut down so you will have to take the freeway path unless you have lots of extra fuel. With a 2014 JKU w/33" tires and 3.73's the Dempster was no problem for fuel, but I had to use every bit of my 22 Gallons of external tanks to get to the next open gas station on 37. To be honest a full sized pickup is probably the best for this role, and as my JKU has a 6 speed I was using the clutch a lot to keep the back end in the proper location. On the way up I took the Alaska State ferry from Bellingham to Haines AK, which I highly recommend. But really once you are up in Whitehorse you will need to stop in Dawson for your last fuel stop, then head up the Dempster. If you have experience on packed snow I would personally always chose winter for the trip, the roads are smooth, bears are asleep and more importantly there are no mosquitoes. I went up to see the Northern lights, and I was rewarded with a massive display that covered 180 degrees of the sky and was actually to the South. I met and talked with lots of locals, and maybe it was because it was in the middle of winter but they are some of the most genuinely kind and friendly people I have ever met. If you do go in winter, make sure you have non-LED headlights, they just ice up in any edge weather and are useless quickly and there are not many safe places to stop on the Dempster.

Joe Smith You must be so used to that kind of scenery and living on the "first world" and having a perfect life so that doesn't wake any feelings inside you, but when you live your whole life on a Mexican shithole, yes, you do cry when you see a fucking fairy tale video. I dare you to live 1 day on my city and then you can tell me who is the bitch.

I would definitely use your products, if Chrysler /Daimler had not left me with such a bad vehicles ( followed the recommendations of a family member whom worked in the design department at the time.). If you spread your wings into the Ford world ( especially the live axle side) I may have to throw some money your way. Great work, skunkwerk's must miss you.

Gary Ray that was Fred Williams. There was an article about this trip in Peterson's Fourwheel Drive and Offroad. I was also hoping for a Dirt Every Day episode when I saw the article.

Great video, and amazing that you to got to see the ice road for the last time. There is a typo in your description: You are missing a K in Tuktoyaktuk or you could use the original Tuktuyaaqtuuqt. Either way its a fun word to say.

WOW, what a trip! That ice road at 1:47 ...insane!! Very nice. Btw - if you guys use a DJI Mavic Pro for your drone footage, that "jello'ing" effect on some of your shots is a known issue and they'll fix it for you under warranty...ask me how I know. :)
@M3this

DJI Inspire 1 X5. During the shoot the winds aloft were somewhere between 30-45mph with gusts over that. At one point I was around 80-90% roll just to keep it directly above us... we were pretty lucky it would even fly with all the battery warnings I was getting (even after warming them up!).
@mandersen
@mandersen 7 жыл бұрын
Wow, that's crazy! I'm hesitant to fly in any winds above 15-20 let alone double that! Thanks for doing it though, it made for some great footage!

Yea wind is not a drones friend. The new P4P though does surprisingly well in wind. I wonder if new I2 would have done better? None the less awesome vid.
