Scary how similar Big Swole's Crohns story is to mine, they took all of my large intestine and I had to be revived twice during the 10hr surgery. Up until last week I had no idea we had IBD in common, and after her segment on this show - man I'm all in. There is a lot of chronically ill people who will live vicariously through people like Big Swole - I'm one of them. Awesome to see AEW shining a spotlight on it.

@s darny that's all well and good up to a point. But there are some people who just simply cannot do some things - not "just really really difficult", but in fact actually impossible. So you gotta bear that in mind. If living vicariously is what you're able to do in a direction in life and you can't do more, then that's the best thing to do. I'm sure the people who don't have the ability to achieve certain dreams don't need reminding of life's shortness or permanency. Enjoying watching someone make the most of it sometimes IS making the most of it. Just depends on what hand life's dealt you.

You have no eyes? Okay, now set a speedrunning record on Doom with the sound off. You have one day. Someone with an IQ of 12 and a mental age of 1? Put that person in charge of nuclear safety - they simply have to "want it enough". Make that elephant climb that very thin very tall tree. See that mountain? Pick it up right out of the ground and bring it over here with your bare hands. That's your "big excuse for lazy people". Okay. See I see this lack of subtlety as the real "big excuse for lazy people" - people who want a one size fits all rule, and don't want to THINK. THAT is lazy. People who don't want to consider anyone's actual barriers to entry, and instead simply want to shout "try harder" at them. THAT is lazy. People who find the slightest bit of naunce, the slightest bit of complication or variance, look at a situation where they actually have to use human judgement according to individual circumstance instead of blurting out some blithe mantra, and recoil in fear and disgust at not being 100% necessarily in control all the time, preferring to throw people under a bus rather than admit they're wrong. THEY are lazy. I am a trainee wrestler and wrestling announcer with autism and seizures, by the way. When I say this. It's not like I'm just some bland idiot who goes "I'm obese, better not do anything with my life then". People try AND fail. People work hard AND don't achieve. If you only look at the wild success stories, then you don't get a realistic view of everything it means to be human. I keep going. I'm not half as tough as some other people but there aren't just two modes. You aren't either peakly able to do everything and anything in life, or else "lazy". I'd consider myself unrealistically determined by all accounts, and I've ignored folks who've told me I'm too old or too fat and proven them wrong, but I am not a moron. I'm not about to go up to Vince McMahon tomorrow and say "I'm ready for my PPV main event now, I can totally do a twisting 730 splash without ever having tried it". In many things you do in life - especially wrestling - other peoples' safety is in your hands. You can't just be "blah blah self-belief, power of imagination", it doesn't work that way. You are responsible, and you should be humble and aware. This attitude is a false approval of the disabled, weilded as a weapon against the disabled. It's an excuse to bully borne from a dumb attitude applied to normal good encouragement - it's the picture of someone going around kicking crutches away from people with crutches just because they're crutches. It's turning what should be the wonderful achievements of people who overcome personal disadvantages into ammunition to use against those who can't - a good thing into a bad thing. Normal good encouragement doesn't just push and nothing else. It knows limits too. Everyone has them and if you were an athlete you'd know that as well. You can't exploit your strengths without knowing your capabilities, that's just not realistic. If you were a coach with that attitude, unless you were only fed capable candidates to begin with, you'd certainly end up killing someone. And I suppose a dead person should just magically come back to life if they really want to enough? According to your attitude, they should. There is such a thing as impossible. There is also such a thing as inspiring. There are hard limits, and there are soft limits, and there are hard difficulties, and there are soft difficulties, and these can all be entirely seperate things from one another. There are limits you can one day surpass and there are limits you never can, and you can put these limits in the right category as you go along, and you can put them in the wrong one. There is effort, and there is also incapability. These are not mutually exclusive. Life is full of nuance and variance. Don't be wilfully and pridefully dumb and pretend it isn't. That's needlessly impractical, even if you don't care about human cruelty. There is an art to inspiration. It's not just insistance and it's not just shouting. You disrespect those whose job it is, by assuming that. The more difficulty you come up against, and the more you have to face that others don't, the more pride you pour into overcoming obstacles and to survive like that you NEED to know what obstacles you can't surpass. If you don't you end up a mental wreck. These feelings are not wood blocks you can just chuck about, they are bombs you have to handle with gloves. All while still attempting to impress people, in order to feel like you have value in yourself... If you find yourself with no genuine barriers to doing what you want and you get to enjoy that great feeling of overcoming the odds then more power to you, consider yourself lucky, and damn well enjoy it to its fullest and be proud. I've done that, in ways I can. And I'm proud and I love it. I will repeat what I said before as you've not changed my mind. For those who can't live a dream, watching a dream is a valid form of making the most of that. Audiences are not pathetic. They are the backbone of sport. Sport would not exist without them. All glory to them.
