the part where Tony Schiavone said the Omega/Cage match was the most important match in AEW history followed by him saying that Omega and Ospreay are "standing tall" after they were beat down and literally lying on the canvas was so damn weird. i thought i was losing it.

AEW badly needs someone to come in with a new creative vision/direction for the company similar to how Bischoff did for WCW in the 90s. What they are doing is not working.

Unfortunately TK will never allow that. He will rather kill the company rather than let someone else run it.

We don't need another Eric Bischoff. We need like the great promoters of the territory days with modern knowledge.
@kevinlee9929
@kevinlee9929 2 күн бұрын
@rayvenkman2087 Eric Bischoff revolutionized not only WCW, but wrestling in general in the 90s. It went from hokey characters to more real characters. There are aspects in wrestling that exist right now due to Eric Bischoff. Such as Weekly Live wrestling shows. The fact that some of y'all think that AEW does not need someone who can bring a fresh vision is mind boggling. The territory days are OVER. House Shows don't sell. It's TELEVISION that's making companies money .
@thegreenpianist7683
@thegreenpianist7683 2 күн бұрын
I don't even think we need that necessarily. Who was running AEW in 2019-2021? It was still Tony. But from everything I read, he had a clear two year plan for AEW when it was created, which also happened to have some of the best stories in company history. It's very clear that TK's problem is that he has too much on his plate. RoH, more AEW TV, etc... He already surrounds himself with a team to help with creative like RJ City who was mostly responsible for the excellent Storm May feud. TK just needs to completely give up RoH to someone, sit his ass down and actually plan things ahead. That's what missing, the shows feels sporadic and directionless.
@rayvenkman2087
@rayvenkman2087 2 күн бұрын
@kevinlee9929 Nope. That'd be Paul Heyman and ECW that really helped revolutionise American wrestling in the mid to late 90's while the big leagues took notes including Vince. Eric's big claim to fame after Nitro was repackaging an idea from New Japan as the n.W.o and besides those two as well as Goldberg, he just about dropped the ball on everything else he touched including a white hot Bret Hart after the Montreal Screwjob. He is also part of the reason WCW died off in 2001 and why TNA went into that slump period after his stint. Half of the flak TK gets for being a bad booker applies to him as well including losing popular talents to the competition yet you're ironically praising him despite having similar habits to Tony. The hokey characters you speak of were in response or due to the WWF's success with gimmicky wrestlers from the Golden Era and the attempts to recapture that glory in New Gen Era in wake of the steroid scandal. Real characters were already a thing even before that. Guess what else is over genuis? The days of the Attitude Era and the Monday Night War. What AEW is trying to do is trying to recapture a very specific point in time including there all the garbage from the period than try to feel the pulse of what's going on in the now like WWE is doing currently. They're trying to follow the Vince Russo and Eric Bischoff style of booking rather than learn from other sources of inspiration. If you learned to actually read my comment, I mentioned Eric and the Territories for a reason. Scoff as you may but there is much one could learn from the past for inspiration and the industry does not need another Eric Bischoff because there's only one Eric Bischoff, it needs someone who isn't trying to be Eric Bischoff like what Tony Khan is doing. If AEW just stops trying to be a Monday Night War redux and does something the WWE isn't doing like showcasing other promotions, revive the wrassling style and modernise it as a point of distinction from the northern style like the old saying of what's old is new again or anything that isn't drawing from Vince's federation like what TNA had been before they started adopting late WCW practices; we wouldn't be having this discussion right now.

I honestly think even if it was short term, even a couple of weeks. Hobbs gets the belt, and is maybe a transitional champion for a Kenny, or Ospreay, etc. It would still have been a great memorable moment for him and he could use it as fuel for a proper world title run down the line.

I can honestly see TK just running cards through Total Extreme Wrestling, getting good scores in that, and telling people to go out and do it. I've watched AEW since day 1, never tuned out of weekly TV(besides Rampage) or PPVs, and it legitimately feels like a fantasy booker playing a game, tuning their product to their preferred style of play, and booking purely off numbers. Thing is, this works in a video game, not in real life, with an audience that you can't tune perfectly to your liking for the best possible outcome.

@jakynth
@jakynth 2 күн бұрын
@Hulkling93 learning how to throw a punch used to be wrestling 101. Now, so many just throw these really lazy forearms where they have to grab the back of the opponents head first. It takes me out of the moment. It's a me thing and I don't expect everyone to feel the same. Again though I really appreciate seeing Kenny break from the pack and throw punches in this match. I think it elevates his presentation even higher.

Kane vs Shane storyline in 2003 (actually most McMahon angles in 2003 sucked), Goldberg vs Steiner vs Nash "Is this real or shoot" angle in wcw 2000, New Blood vs Millionaires Club in 2000 which included the baffling Flair vs Russo angle or the Neverending Sting vs vampiro vs demon story, hogan vs kidman, most hhh programs in 2003, awful jeff jarrett vs nwa tna story in 2002-2003, THEM in TNA, Aces and Eights, WT Rednecks vs Filthy Animals as it was similar to cole vs mjf in getting the wrong crowd reactions (only thankfully not going as long), Kane vs matt hardy and lita (hopefully I don't need to explain that one), TNA redoing Montreal twice with Hogan Bischoff and Angle and the jarrett hebner larry. Maximum Carnage, more like Mediocre Offense. "I'm just over it" Is exactly how I feel about most of AEW. A complete waste of Powerhouse Hobbs , a guy built for this business and could be money if booked right. He's never been booked right though. The ending was just eye rolling. I'm tired of Wheeler Useless doing anything especially leveling a guy like Hobbs. There are a few bright spots like Toni Storm. Those are few a far between though. Sure, they have "great matches" but if I want to watch choreographed gymnastics, I'll watch Olympic qualifiers. Hobbs should have won, nobody gives 2 shits about this moxley story, and I don't really care for Copeland (not calling him the other name) to be world champ in 2025 in all honesty, time to invest in a home grown talent like Hobbs, he's great Also yet again I bring up the inconsistency of refs calling people unconscious yet when it's a fake out they do the 3 arm drop thing with the babyface usually not letting it go limp on the 3rd time, other times like tonight they just call it immediately, just annoys me even if it's a small detail Hayter hype has been derailed so much shes just another person these days and its sad Mjf and jarret basically cut the same promo as last week, at first glance i thought it was a recap segment of last week thats how bad it was Hurt syndicate remains great, most likely bevause mvp has his own creative control for the group, probably was a claus before joining aew tbh Been watching aew from day 1 and its abit of a chore these days fs, Tony is set in his ways, hes planned all the world champs and thats why he doesnt call an audible and have Hobbs win the title, or wardlow getting a title push previously I know we as fans dont like hot potato'ing the belts in wrestling but not every title reign should be long in aew, means every time someone wins the title we cant believe any of their challengers winning because its too soon, its predictable af (as much as i hoped hobbs would win we knew it wasnt happening)

Despite what haters say this was a good episode of Dynamite it wasn't perfect & had flaws but overall was ok the death rider angle is not that bad The Bloodline at times was way worse way more boring & way more predictable bottom line AEW is not as bad as WWE TNA or WCW at there worst thanks monster good review don't always agree with all u say but of all reviewers your the fairest you call it down the middle good & bad Respect 👍 Have a nice day wrestling fans 😎

AEW needs... something right now some kind of spark because its gone from anger and frustration to just depressing right now. Attendance looks depressing matches look depressing, even in a smaller venue its still sounds dead most of the time, nothing makes sense its like where the fuck happened to this company? I truly think Cody and Punk leaving stripped the soul of AEW and Tony really doesn't care anymore he's getting paid he got his new deal from Warner and could give two shits if the product is good or not. I'd love to meet him from one life long fan to another and sit back and look me in the face and try to genuinely tell me or convince me that AEW is truly at its best right now, It's not it is just boring right now and I feel hallow watching this show now most of the time I don't even watch anymore I'll check X to see if anything good happened. Nobody cares about Mox and this story sadly nobody wants to watch him and Copeland fight for the world title who does that help? Both guys are established guys mostly from WWE they need to build up some new names like Hobbs to be positioned as main event stars. Why is Jeff Jarrett getting so much tv time? It's like they're literally trying to copy the Cena storyline from WWE only problem is even in his prime Jeff Jarrett was never that over so why are we pushing him in 2025 especially against your biggest star in the company MJF? It's fucking ridiculous it makes no sense and it truly makes me sad how far this company has fallen. Apparently Scott D'more was backstage if I were Tony I would bring him in ASAP to be his booker and Tony needs to just write the checks, because if this company keeps going in this direction then soon there will be no one left to care and that's where I'm headed myself.

Idk if anyone else has noticed the announcers are playing into "we don't even know if the world title is in the briefcase" which has got to mean something but if it's the Shane McMahon thing GET TO IT Already! Ospreay, Omega, Swerve, Hangman, MJF would all be more entertaining than this D Riders & I'm an ep 1 Being The Elite fan/sicko

Moxley has told us the belts in the case. Obviously, it isnt because that belts too big, but for the story, it doesn't matter. If Shane was coming, he would've appeared. A lot was made of that reference to someone being behind Moxley and we've heard nothing since.
