It wouldn't make much sense to put the date on the back of the Sting package since the heads are from 2 different dates. The main head is from Starrcade '88 and the other head is from WrestleWar '89.

I believe Sting owns his likeness as TNA also made a figure of him during his WCW era. He did wrestle in NJPW as well during that era so maybe they based it off that.

When you have the rights to someone's likeness, you have the rights to the likeness of their entire life. Rival companies usually don't make toys of ppl with likeness from the rival company because it's free advertising for the opposition. However, WCW is dead & so is the WWE Network so WWE ain't gonna make much money from the advertising from AEW releasing this figure. This also means Mattel or Jazwares could just make figures of their respective wrestlers as babies coz they have the rights to do that.

That Surfer Sting action figure brings back memories to me as a child watching National Wrestling Alliance NWA. Love this Sting 🔥 Definitely coming to my collection. The Osprey is cool but where's the cloth jacket that's a disappointment.

I wonder if Jazwares has two different people in charge of head-sculpts. I’ve noticed all of the good/decent ones (Ospreay, Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson series 1) have a similar realistic style and all of the bad ones (Dax Harwood, Andrade, Matt Jackson from the two-pack) have the same weird cartoony eyes and soft sculpts.

I really dig both of these figures. When AEW/Jazwares nail a figure, I think they make the best wrestling figures out there. But when they flop, man are they terrible!!!! I'm looking at you Lance Archer and Chuck Taylor. Honorable mention to Keith Lee who looked good but couldn't pose worth a damn.

Sometimes on ringside you can find these back ordered figures if you go to shop all - damaged packaging - sort by - newest. There’s a chase elite 114 jey uso with the alternate “yeet” gear for $33.99 rn. I’ve ordered these quite a few times and can never find the damage on the packaging that they’re talking about 😂
