I had the same conversation with my dad after the show. Find the happy medium of what WWE does and AEW has been doing. Less matches, better market. I did think the crowd was as quiet in general as Sidge is laying out but it wasn’t super loud.
@alternative75864 ай бұрын
Middle ground: WWE is doing 5 matches in 3 hours, which is not good because there's a lot of feuds that deserve to be on PPV, and sticking to the NXT: Takeover formula isn't going to work because you have 2 brands with many feuds happening at once. AEW's 10 match formula is also too much because it takes too much time and tires fans out easily. I think a good solution is a 6-8 match PPV in 3 hours.

i love wrestling in ring storytelling so naturally i lean more towards aew (i watched wwe since 88 and wrestlemania almost always hits this) but even i have to admit mr sidgewick was bang on with this the matches i really wanted to see where very good, but aew is struggling with trying to please everyone and quantity having a negative effect on the overall quality of the experiance.

This crowd was fucking balls to the wall loud literally the entire night. The only low was the Mox/Naito match and even then they came up for the end. Saying this crowd wasn’t good is the most bs opinion on wrestling I’ve heard in months and think of the ground that covers. The UK streams must be whack because this crowd was electric as fuck all night long.

His isn’t the only person saying that, a lot of reviewers are saying the crowd where dead. On the PPV I watched I have to say they came across as quiet

I wonder if it’s as simple as some venues have crowd mics and others do not, so we’re all at the luck of the draw. However, it did have a noticeable impact on the feel of the matches - despite most being good to great and a few being excellent, in terms of in-ring quality.

I think it was during the Elite match... a small group of fans chanted CM Punk and then they got booed and I'm sure I heard them chanting "he got fired" ... just a note for tonight's show in Chicago. Loved the PPV with my son and love this podcast! 💙

Hey gents! I was in the crowd on the night, and I can promise my voice is still recovering from it. I definitely agree that there was a lot of quiet watching into reacting, even during the matches that I felt were supposed to make us go crazy, like the ladder match. The TBS match was really fascinating how the crowd turned so quickly on Mercedes, I honestly don’t know how much of it was Stephanie turning them or if it was because of it being New York, the whole vibe changed so quickly after the guy in the Boston Jersey showed up on camera. Anyways, thanks as always for the content

I'm not buying Moxley being 'unhappy' with AEW. Swerve retains at All In, loses a week later to heel Hanger. Orange Cassidy character is changing. Will ZSJ be at All in ?

Yes. The Rush v MJF should've cumulated here. With a tag match that MJF struggles to find a partner for. Then maybe one match that ends in a DQ. Then thatch at FD. Okada can't go straight to the top. In 2 years, he'll be in the main event v Omega

the main thing that elevated the ladder match for me, was every guy in it felt special in there own way and i admit having an understanding of the truely shite postion ELP has been left in on njpw as his entire group has left for wwe bloodline does factor in but there where moments where i cheered & cringed for each guy even though i knew perry was going to steal it at the end that didn't hurt it as much as i expected it too.

Here’s an example of I really like a band. Let’s call the band Styx for funnies. Styx has a very long song called don’t sail away. It’s good has a lot of parts and fans like it. They have a bunch of other songs of all styles that people like too. When I go and see a concert I want to see and hear a good mix of those songs. The way I know them. What I don’t want to see is “don’t sail away” with an added 20 minute drum solo. I don’t want them to play a bunch of b-sides even if they are more “musically interesting” I want the hits. It’s not that it’s “too much wrestling” literally. It’s too much “superfluous wrestling” figuratively. I paid. I liked the ppv. But a lot of matches feel like they just happened. It may as well have been a random indie show I showed up to without any insight into what’s going on. Again it’s all fine. It just needs some meat.

What the, and pardon me for saying it this way but, FUCK is WRONG with you WhatCulture people?? That was an AMAZING PPV. I watched from the beginning of Zero Hour all the way to the end and was RIVETED. Maybe you armchair bookers would STILL have WCPW up and running if you booked anything ONE TENTH as good as that!
@ashleyloftus4 ай бұрын
Nah, I felt the same way and even skipped zero hour to save for tonight, so I didn’t get overwhelmed. It’s just a bit too much in a row. Like having your favourite meal so often that it makes you sick and then being told to still enjoy it. It wasn’t bad by any means but I unintentionally switched off for more matches than I expected. Normally, even if the tv shows have been a bit lacklustre, the PPVs are normally exceptional but only the Britt Baker appearance gave me goosebumps and then Orange vs ZSJ and the main event were a close second. The women’s matches were all great. Some others especially the Mox match really needed to be trimmed. I almost wish this had been split into two nights with one set in Japan on the same weekend then they could have given it some breathing room. That said, I’m super glad you enjoyed it and am certainly not pissing on your chips as I’m also a huge AEW fan and going to All In again but was gutted it felt a bit underwhelming tbh.

@@tomassantos8860 that’s your opinion. I actually look forward to these PPVs and the matches are consistently better than what WWE produces. It feels important and like a sporting event (as it should) if soccer and football are 3-4 hour games, I see no problem watching a Wrestling event the same length of time. Get your ADHD ass up outta here. If you can’t watch it, pop some Ritalin. What true fan, complains about MORE of what they are a fan of? It is an oxymoron of epic proportions

@@sandroace I have seen the quarter hours since he became champion, and most of the time his quarter hours increases from the last quarter. Other times he starts the show with the highest ratings of the show. Do you consider Will Ospreay a draw?
@sandroace4 ай бұрын
@@Literal_Sense If you seen them than you’d know two things. 1 the opening quarter getting The Big Bang lead in means nothing as the second quarter almost always sees a decrease of over a hundred thousand viewers which essentially means nobody except Sheldon Copper can lay claim to the opening quarter. 2nd his main event spots have at times lost viewers. The only guy that consistently draws(though lower than he did prior to his absence) is MJF.

@@sandroace Since he became champion towards the end of April and was not at the start of the show, him vs Konosuke, w/Christian promo, him vs Brian Cage, him vs Roderick Strong all increased from last quarters.
