spicy food is more of an “asian” thing than a western thing,. Filipino food is generally not spicy (except regional food like Bicol) among the ASEAN countries I’ve went to (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia), all of their food is spicy except the Philippines. always remember that countries that generrally don’t eat spicy food “dread” eating spicy food, and that eating and getting used to eating spicy food for none spicy eaters is an acquired taste. I was generally a non spicy eater, but because I worked in a spicy eating country, i had to learn to eat spicy. … as for your solo travels, it is good that you are doing that. in developed countries, new college graduates usually volunteer to travel before they go to work to experience different cultures, food, politics and religion to be a “well rounded” individual. that is why you will see young western foreign travelers in asian countries. as a “korean filipina”, seeing foreigners wherever your are is also a good time to listen if they have something to say regarding culture, food, politics and religion. it is refreshing to see a korean filipina talk and speak Filipino. it also an advantage to be bilingual…
