Thank you again for this tutorial on Square ground filing. You are the master of this hand filing. I wish these Vallorbe triangular files we obtainable in New Zealand. I've never seen anyone put as much effort into bucking a log as you to, a master class. Keep these videos coming please.

Wow! That cutting at the end of this video was impressive. That chain cut thru everything with ease! Great instruction. And I liked how you propped your chainsaw against that stump for field sharpening at 14:50. A simple idea that allows you to stand up while sharpening, brilliant! I never thought of doing something like that. Thanks for posting this video.

Отлично! Не верится, что эта заточка даёт такой эффект. Штиль обещает +10%. Интересно посмотреть в сравнении два реза с разной заточкой. PS. Не делайте этого на слабых пилах, мотора не хватит)))

When I tried to square file my chains, I realized how bad my eyesight is. Hahahaha! I'm sticking to the round file. Easier in the field for me. I can tell by the feel of the round file when my chain is razor sharp, which I supposed is a result of years of practice. I'm an old dog for round filing. It works for me! No new trick here! But.........Stihl fan Suisse....that's some awesome filing my friend. Keep it up! I'm satisfied just knowing someone can do that.

Is there any possibility you could post this same video with English subtitles? Your videos are exceptionally helpful and appreciated by those learning to file chains using files other than round files. Unfortunately, myself and others are missing some of the information that you're providing due to language barriers. Thank you.

You can go to the SETTINGS button (the gear icon next to CC), click on SUBTITLES, then choose ENGLISH. It's not the best translation but it does help. Sadly, I don't speak any French, despite the fact that I took French in the 7th grade so I could be in a class with a girl I liked.

I've never seen anything like this!! This is absolutely amazing!! You're method is *brilliant*, you're obviously very intelligent to conduct this technique with such meticulous mastering of all detail. Thank-you very much for creating this video, it was incredible to view!! It seems as though your talent creating video is also impressive just as your skills in the forest, a true professional! I must file a chain this method however the more conservative angle will be my approach. Canada, in the *east* I battle with _hard hard hard_ maple and a mean old angry yellow birch, old and was wider than the bar on my saw, but hard and dense, no hollow spot, rock solid like a chunk of *ledge*. Its down and limb'd, but too much snow to go back there right now. I must file chains now and await my return... The *1997 Jonsered 625 ii* is ready =)

Right at start of this video I can already see that you've got the same "problem" with this specific file that I had. Namely, the small face of the file for the side plate is too small and slightly rounded. In your other video you are using the double bevel file which leaves a much straighter side plate and a much cleaner looking tooth. Both files work but the difference between the two is significant.

Frank where do you live ? if USA madsen1 has them go on line ..ring them up .. they are spendy. Here's my advice. If you haven't access to a Simington 451C you probably will never be able to repeat what Suisse can do by hand. Every 3-5 hand sharpens I run mine through the Simington. If you are a detail God you might get away with it. There are cheaper Gigs for it. The new hexa file could be helpful.

I watched another filing square ground video, with English sub-titles where you use a file that looked almost flat, but bot edges were angled to form the point. Hope you know what I am trying to explain. Why would you use one file Flat-like (vs) over the other triangular file? Is it or any special reason? On the last filing video which I watched using the Flat-ish file for square filing and on this video when the chain is held in the vice you have some type of jig/holder that it seems it lets you reference/position the chain from one tooth to the next tooth on the same side of the chain. Does this part have a name? I think it would make sharpening in my shed easier than done on the saw. Can you please help me with a a name or part number? Thank you. link for where I can purchase it? @fearlyenrage Жыл бұрын
Information Those are -+ 45° files with 3 sides. You can take any that has a side length of 6mm and 1-2mm flat side between the angled sides. But a small good round file that cuts a belly into the chain tooth will give you good results to. What is most crucial is a very hard cutting steel that wont dull easy. Try any kind of angle you will be surprised by what filling does what. Stay safe!
