Question 3: is there a symmetry tool in Affinity? Right now no, but it is rather easy to set it up with symbols. I'm also showing it in one of my YT shorts in here: kzbin.info1dJDSPpDmsc Let me know if you'd like to request a tutorial :)

Question 4: how to close the vector shapes? From the Pencil Tool, you need to toggle ON the auto-close function if you are on V2 Affinity Designer. If you're on V1, sadly there is no auto-close, you need to close your shapes manually. If the shapes are not closed and you send it over like that to clients, it won't look professional ickkkk.

Question 1: why do I merge some elements with the ADD function? It is a personal preference but I found it useful for me to merge for example the stems of my plants. But you can of course keep it all in 1 group, no need to merge it. I rarely make any other changes on the stems, apart from using the Node Tool, so after having created sooooo many botanical patterns, I found that it is much easier and more practical for me to merge my stems (or the stalks).

I love your work and tutorials. Thanks so much for sharing. I am having a little trouble with overlapping elements not working in the pattern where some are on top and others are underneath in the symbols. Is there a reason for this I am missing?

Thank you. I am having problems in Procreate with pixelation and blurry edges (using latest versions, the correct brushes, and IPAD pro) - will Affinity remove my problem of blurry edges/pixelation?

That depends if you intend to use Affinity for vector art or pixel art? I'm not using Affinity with pixels too much. I'd always recommend to dive into vector art! :) Make sure to subscribe - next week I'll be working on a short floral vector tutorial for Affinity.

Question 2: when saving assets, if I select 2 groups simultaneously, will it save it as 2 assets? Yes! That is the time-saving beauty of it. If you select for example 20 groups, each of them with an asset inside, each of those "top-level" groups will be identified as a unique asset and it will be saved as 20 unique assets :)))))
