Usable info. It helps to take notes because you won't remember all the details. I've had to re-view this video because I failed to convert the text to curves. Thank you to all the Affinity tutors and tutorials for enlightening and sharing info. I no longer feel overwhelmed by all the tools, each having its own purpose(s). Learning and using Affinity Photo and Designer is a wonderful creative experience. It's time for another tutorial. Progress.

@@ArtistWright Nothing wrong with that tutorial. I'm getting into the habit of create to curves to provide more editing options (particularly for letters.) Hardest thing at times is finding where all the features are. Guess it's just a matter of practice. Cheers.

I got lost around the 13::00 mark. I’m sure what you did there did lay the blue gradient on top of the pink I thank you for all of the time you put into creating this. I’m very new to graphic design software and find these tutorials very beneficial!

I lost you at around 13 minutes. I’m not sure what you did to overlay the blue gradient on top of the pink one. Thank you for all of the time you put into creating this tutorial! I am new to graphic design software and have a lot to learn.
@ArtistWright4 жыл бұрын
Hello there! Thanks for watching. So at 13 minutes in i clicked on the fill tool, dragged it across the 'fill word', as standard it comes out as grey to white and you can see a small circle on each end of the line. I first clicked on the little white circle on the end of that line then clicked on the colour tap and chose the pink colour. I then went back to the design and selected the other mini circle which was grey.i then went back up to the colour tab and selected a blue colour. That's it. Hope that helps

Very informative video. Didn't know about multiple strokes. One question, is there a way to have the white outline as a separate line that i can use to send to the printer as a cut line?
@ArtistWright3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I don't know so much about cut lines. But I believe if exported to the correct file format it's possible. You can create separate lines. Have a play about

HI there. Loving the videos. Im after a simple tutorial on how to convert jpeg images like a logo, to a usable image with no background (putting it simply because Im a noob)
@ArtistWright4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jon, thank you for your comment. So I assume you want to convert for example jpeg logos into vectors. Unfortunately Affinity Designer doesn't have an image trace option like Adobe illustrator. But you could always recreative it in Affinity Designer, my other tutorials can help you learn this software. You could also use another vecotiser programme. I know of one called super vecotiser 2 which does a fairly decent job as tracing and converting jpegs into vectors. I've used that, then tidied it up in Affinity Designer. Hope that helps

I just bought my AD and it seems that the layout in the work area is a bit different. I don't see all the selection tabs showing on the right side of your work area. Cir Appearance Swt Chr Str Bru. I do see Color Swatches Stroke and Brushes. I went up to view and then studio and then clicked appearance off and on to where it was. It is located on the left side Of the workspace next assets. Is there a way to set my work area up the way yours is, so that all these tabs are showing up just the way your does. It looks a whole lot more convenient. 🙂
@ArtistWright3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, sorry for the uber delayed response. To reveal more panels such a swatch, brushes etc. head to VIEW then STUDIO then click on the items you want. they will then appear on your document and you can drag them to where you want. Ive just released 2 new videos if you are interested.

I was hoping for a solution I'm looking for: I have a shape and line. The line has a texture, like a pencil. I want to fill the shape with a gradient. But the line in the same way. Copying the style doesn't copy the direction of th gradient so the line still isn't the same. Is there a way to turn the line into an outline and combine it with the shape to solve the issue? Or can you control the line the same as the fill? I also tried masking but it's a pain because the mask needs to be smaller than the original shape to see the line texture.
@ArtistWright2 жыл бұрын
If you have a shape you can add the gradient and choose the direction and colour. If that shape has a stroke, you can also apply a gradient to that (use the full tool) . With the stroke selected (I assume its a vector brush that has the style of a pencil) go to the fill tool and on the top left it will say context, change that to stroke and choose your colours. Hope that helps
@twizzy122 жыл бұрын
What does it mean if Affinity is not allowing me to add another stroke?
@ArtistWright2 жыл бұрын
It probably is letting you, but it adds the new one under the current stroke. So you can either drag the new layer above or just expand the stroke so it shows.

Could you use symbols and keep the text live for multiple strokes and fills?

@MrSurvivalTv_CS2 жыл бұрын
is this stil possible with affinity photo?
@ArtistWright2 жыл бұрын
I don't think so. But you could do a little trick and user the FX panel to add the outline. Group it, then add an outline to that group so you have 2 outlines.
