Hi Jay, having used hi-end interconnections for years and being happy with the results, I recently decided to upgrade my power cords and was totally blown away by the improvement in bottom end, detail and sound stage. I’m’ a convert to quality power cords despite the doubters. I would also point out that you need a highly resolving system to best appreciate the difference. That being said I also noticed the differences in the clarity, high end sparkle and sound stage depth on my television which totally surprised me. Thanks for the video.

Whats the point of those power cables, the house hold wiring where i am is only 2.5mm2 supplying up to 16A at 240v those cables look over kill and i would assume they are. Only benefit which i hope is included in the design is some sort of shielding for interference. its supplying power not signals and if the power is clean the standard will be fine just keep away from speaker cables but than again those high end one are shielded as well

I have a 60,000$ 2 channels systems (without the cables). I get rid of all my "exotic” high priced cables and replaced them with Blue Jean Cables. The results were astonishing in terms of improvement. Better and tighter bass, clearer highs, more air and depth in sound. In fact I was shocked when I heard the difference. I sold my 17,000$ worth of cables and replaced them with a 1000$ worth of Blue Jean Cables. I will never fall again into the snake oil super high priced exotic cables again. I saved thousands of dollars for a better performance.

I have used NRG cables for about five years. I started with NRG because I need a 20 Amp cable for a power supply. The NRG cable easily and immediately bested a Shunyata cable that was four time more expensive. As Jay notes, the NRG power cables genuinely do make an audible difference. Bass is open and deep and there is an easy, non-fatiguing sense to the sound overall. I've used the NRG on a Devialet amp as well as modified Sonos components. Nawaz makes outstanding cables, and perhaps most importantly, he stands behind his products, and responds immediately to any question or concern. Once, I had an issue with an NRG power cable. I wrote to him and within five minutes, I had a return label and within a few days, I had a replacement in hand. That level of service and support is almost impossible to find today. Please, consider his products. They are outstanding, regardless of price.

You echoed my first interaction with higher quality cables just recently I have a Cambridge axr100 going Into elac debut b6.2 saving for the A6 streamer but I got a set of transparent audio performance power cable and hardwire speaker cables not too terribly expensive at all but it didn’t add anything to the sound it almost just lowered the noise floor idk how to explain it the details were more etched sounds had crisper textures I wasn’t a cable denier but I wasn’t a believer either I was of the mind I’m buying them for better build quality and aesthetics if it improves my sound that’s a bonus and I was pleasantly surprised

Jay it is easy for me to feel your sincerity in your subjective review on cables. And certainly NRG also demonstrates integrity and sincerity to the end user/customer. I do have a question regarding my Fluance RT85 - at medium to high volmume listening - when the Lp side is done playing there is an obvious noise / feedback that I hear which is certainly playing in the background of the music. What can I do to isolate where is the noise coming from? Turntable too close to speaker? vibration from floor (the turntable sits on a separate wooden table about 19 inches off the floor)? Something mechanical within the turntable and/or wiring? And who might I inquire with to resolve this? I will reach out to Fluance to start with. Thanks again...I'm considering the power cable to start.

Hi Jay. Just some observations about names/labels of any of these transmission components. As an old-time audiophyle I appreciated the earlier nomenclature because it clarifies what is being mentioned. Namely, speaker cables were historically called 'speaker wires'. Interconnects, whether RCAs or XLRs, were called 'cables'. Power cables were called 'power cords'. I know this borders on pickiness but I think it helps one's understanding when 'cables' are being discussed. I doubt many will go back to these former names but I thought the historical context made sense. Cheers.

Great cables and Nawaz is excellent to deal with. Jay, I noticed both the speaker and power cable terminations are gold, Nawaz offers Rhodium plating, I’ve often heard of using rhodium power and interconnect terminations and warming things up with gold speaker connectors. Any thoughts from you or Nawaz? And I have to agree with a few comments on here about the IEC end not making a great sturdy connection with the equipment it’s powering.

I heard more improvement when I put new power cords on my preamp and power amps (monoblocks), less so on sources. I like the power cords I have, but they're not very flexible. Flexibility is a big deal to me. If I ever decide to replace them, NRG will be a definite consideration. Do the NRG cords have any noise reduction features? The cords I have now do.

I have purchased from NRG. Nawaz is a great guy. Products are worth the money, BUT, they are VERY heavy cables. The .1CS I purchased did sag and partially pull away from a Synergistic Research receptrical. I also had issues with another that the IEC would not stay securely on the back of my Denafrips or my Marantz without support. Again, these are worth the money but the down side is that unless Nawaz has changed construction in the last 18 months they present problems due to weight.

For reasonable priced cables it’s worth checking out some of the off the reel cables from Belden, Mogami and Gotham. Also the old WE based cables from Duelund, tinned copper in cotton and oil insulation. Jeff Day and Doctor John are a good starting point for info. For mains cables Puritan are reasonably priced and very good. A good plug makes a difference, look at KLE, Duelund , Furutech, WTB and if you can afford it Bocchino.

Expensive cables are what I call snake oil. My friend brought to my house some 5,000 usd speaker wires, to see if I would notice any difference, but with my descent 10 AWG oxygen free all copper speaker wires, I didn’t notice any difference. I would like to see a blind test of those who claim they can listen to a difference between descent and extremely expensive cables. You better invest that money on a nice set of speakers and you will be then rewarded for the price you paid!

I don’t think you will be disappointed as long as you have good supporting gear. In my experience FR drivers benefit from a running in period with bass improving for example. I am comparing these with much larger 8 and 10inch FR speakers in TWQT cabinets that cost much more. I would say the bass performance is surprisingly on par, but the benefit of the small driver is heard in the mid and highs with improved transients and resolution. We are using on custom wooden stands 700mm high in a medium sized room.

Regarding upscale power cables, I believe I have other things to bring into the mix first, for trying to get a noticeable improvement in the resolution of my current 2 channel system. That being said, I did resolve a mild ground loop hum by routing standard power cables to get around deficiencies of the house circuitry (needing to have a second sub to get power off the same circuit as the first sub to cure the hum). Not everything is right with the world concerning the wall receptacle(s) you plug your gear into. If you have your equipment plugged into a receptacle(s) that is on a circuit(s) with ceiling fans, dimmer light switches, florescent lights, GFI outlets, electrically noisy devices, sloppy ground wiring, etc. you may want to first deal with cleaning up the source you plug your equipment into. In a perfect world, you'd have a dedicated high quality power receptacle that is wired straight from the breaker panel with nothing else on the circuit (and with that wire run being "shielded" if possible). Easier said than done of course, but you may be lucky in your home layout that running a dedicated circuit is not overly complicated and not terribly expensive. If you think "clean power" is going to make a sound difference for your listening enjoyment, I'd first look at the circuit that any audiophile high end cables will be plugging into.

I think I call bullshit on the power cables... Consider most residential services are aluminum wire from the pole to the main panel, that power runs through a meter and then energizes the buss bars on the panel then through a circuit breaker and finally through what ever type of wire to the outlet, quality of both to be considered, so having a better power cable can not be any better then the worst part of the chain the current had to follow to get there. Perhaps if your are using an isolation transformer than it may have a positive effect in decreasing your noise floor.

Will one hear a difference using lesser equipment? For example, I use a Yamaha s801 and Bowers and Wilkins 705s. I have heard that a better power cable would help with the Yamaha

Good question. I did hear with lesser gear but those were really good for the price. NRG does have a 60 day risk free trial so can’t hurt trying it for yourself to decide

If your on a budget, It's hard to beat Benchmark Media power cables and Mogami speaker cable. Tekton makes a reasonably priced set.

Ok, so the cables look great ,,,,but but as far as wall outlets and wall cables any and all 120/240 outlets are crap solid copper ish wire that you can buy at any electrical store or Home Depot. So other than look . I think once you power goes in a unit then the work starts.

My cable decisions are driven by wire gauge. The bigger the better. I did spring for a gold plated electrical outlet. Paid an electrician $350 to move my fiber optic internet jack next to the outlet so all my devices are hard wired.

Yeah I got some really expensive German power cables, top of their line (bt I seriously can't remember the name anymore) and they've been lying on a shelf in the attic for YEARS now because they're absolutely not flexible at all. It looks so awkward and ugly in the living room, they go forward over a foot before finally bending down and even after that they're way too clumsy. They stick out over 2 feet before they finally touch the ground and then still they need to get into the equipment that I bought them for. Absolutely useless in a normal living room! For now I just use the cheap-ass crap that comes for free with the equipment.

Hmm.. it all goes though 0.3 mm x 0.03 mm thick copper (probably recycled from the etching process) traces on the circuit board. 😊

So, darker background, better layering, better imaging, wider soundstage, clearer sound, better frequency extension in the highs AND the lows, better bass control, etc. Dude, that's a LOT of improvements for a power cable, just sayin'...

@@Jayiyagi Let's just say that what you experienced is not anywhere near what I heard when testing cables, be they power cables or interconnects. What I usually found was that the difference between them, though noticeable, was minute and was amounting to a sidestep more than a real improvement. Eventhough I've learned to trust your ears over the last couple of years, I think I'll side with the sceptics for that one. Keep up the good work an all the best.

Once You go to real silver offerings, you just laugh about these copper conductor solutions.
@Jayiyagi
@Jayiyagi 6 ай бұрын
real silver conductors are expensive. Because of this most of what the market offers is much thinner silver cable compared to copper counterparts. Which results in thinner silver cables that have less conductivity than a thicker copper cable. Equivalent thick silver cables are hard to find (almost impossible unless you diy) and will run you at least 10-15x the price. Considering that, the thicker pure copper cables do a really good job for a much lesser price. If you have money to burn and is in a position to smother yourself with silver cables, that's awesome but copper cables can be equally good if not better in most cases due to the phenomenon I mentioned above so... really nothing to laugh about

Because any normal power or speaker cable will bend, and a cable that doesn't bend is just stupid.
@IliyaOsnovikov
@IliyaOsnovikov 11 ай бұрын
@@literalghost929 Absolutely any cable can be bent. Even the one with thick solid wires. But in a normal set up speaker cables have to be bent only once during installation. Thus there is no need for them to be really flexible.
Huge Improvement! You Should Buy These Affordable Audio Cables
