I own a solstice GXP I got for $14k. Criminally underrated car. Its only pitfall is interior quality. Only one or two known engine problems that are able to be righted with certainty.

Solstice forever!!!! Owns a coupe!

The base Solstice 2.4 ecotec is the more reliable model. It has plenty of power and won't burn out like most 4 cylinder turbo engines. You failed to find the other retractable cup holder in the forward right side of the transmission hump.

The solstice is best with the turbo, and best enjoyed in windy canyon roads. 260hp and 2900lbs on the GXP/RL really livens up a very capable chassis. The base model is for grocery getting in style.

Grocery getting with the top down is exactly why I bought one. It’s STILL fun for me, and wayyyy more fun than either Miata I had.

It’s something to note that the solstice 5 speed is a GMC canyon transmission with an overdrive gear. I love my manual solstice, but I can’t deny that the automatic is MUCH faster (particularly equipped to a GXP/Red Line Saturn)

To say that Pontiac was not a marquee name like Porsche or Jaguar borders on ludicrous. Pontiac has an amazing automotive history and pedigree.

Back in 2007 I had an NA Solstice and my dad had a 996 Carrera, I drove both and I had a blast having a Solstice as my daily. I'm definitely biased as it was my first car but I gotta say the Solstice aged much better aesthetically hence me looking to buy another one out of nostalgia lol

XKR is supercharged and not turbocharged…. And the prices you all quoted are high even in this market. BUT the cars are beautiful! And I love the choices of convertibles 😎🔥

I really dislike the Cabrio 911 is ultimate poseur mobile especially with a Tiptronic. Rather get a Boxster for a top down purity and driving pleasure. That black Solstice is sexy AF. I preferred the Sky when these twins came out, but the Solstice has aged well over time. Can't say the same with the 996. Though the coupe is the prettier one still. Jag is always a beautiful tourer. I feel like I need to wear a tweed jacket and a beret when driving that XK.... plus a pipe too. And I would when I am 80. Great job with the polish and wax job with all cars.

The Porsche and Jag might be inexpensive until you have to get them worked on or repaired. The Solstice is relatively cheap unless you wreck it, at which point most insurance companies will total the car due to the high price (lack of) of replacement crash parts.

There IS a mechanical “gotcha” on the Solstice (2 actually) and it applies to both engines. The Timing chain guide on the drivers side has a bolt that will back out and fail the timing system dramatically. (Easily fixed with a replacement access cover that takes the place of the bolt) The bigger one is the water pump. It’s driven by the balance chain. It cavitates and comes apart. A replacement waterpump with fin covers from ACDELCO will fix this, but you have to play games with the timing system to replace it. The stock waterpump on these WILL fail. If yours hasn’t, it just hasn’t yet.

The Solstice and Sky experience coolant pump failures at a higher than normal rate.

I agree. Newer interiors are awful. The digital age never needed to enter the automobile.

The solstice top is all manual and easy ,a lot less things to go wrong, no motors no gears easy.

No pandering for children in the Solstice. His and her seats only!
