Thanks for sharing. You know you're in a great Cantonese restaurant when the place is packed and loud. 😊I will try this spot the next time I'm in the area. Over the course of 40+ years I've enjoyed dim sum in Manhattan on Elizabeth Street across from the police station, a diner across from Confucius Square, plus a couple more I forget where they are. I have the good fortune to live a couple of miles away from the heart of downtown Flushing so I've patronized quite a few different informal spots there miles (too many for me to remember names and adresses - just know where they are). There are some fancier restaurants too. For example up a few flights on Roosevelt Avenue and another on Northern Blvd in Little Neck. Dim sum is certainly a taste treat as there is a very wide variety of offerings and the dessert sweets end your meal leaving a great flavor on your palate.

So crowded because of low prices. Hopefully other restaurants will lower their prices too. My friend went to Hong Kong many years ago. He said dim sum was 60 cents a plate. Some people ordered so many plates, they were piled high in front of them so they couldn’t see their faces anymore.😂

Never heard of this place but another one into my list now. Just checked their menu, found out the shrimp tofu skin rolls are in the special dim sum section which cost $5.50🥲That's why you got a $5.50 stamp, too bad but it's also one of my favorite dim sum dish too so I will still getting it when I go. Thank you DtM for another good review.

Glad to see someone on the same page as me wiith regards to prices doubling over the past couple of years, which represents a 100% increase. $1.75 for one ball/piece is difficult to digest. I know one place I use to frequent - not only has the price increased to $7 per dish, but at least 1/3 of the selection/menu has disappeared.

Speaking about hop shing, do you remember a restaurant nearby located around the middle of division street, I think called trade winds? They were one of the first ones, I think that had rolled rice rolls, before they became popular. The ones there were delicious. They were rolled up, almost like an egg roll. They had pork, scallions, sesame seeds etc. I remember them being only .35 cents each. They also had a great stuffed tofu dish. It was family run restaurant and there for a long time , back to the 60’s I think before they finally closed.

Hi Danny, your back home in NYC Chinatown. The Shrimp Har Gow is a key food quality indicator. Interesting it was only 7.5 but the Siu Mai 9.3 and Ngau Cheng 9 ( fresh and hot ) were rated higher. Business wise, the rent for the 2nd floor is cheaper than the ground floor. Thus, they can probably lower the food prices a little. So, walking upstairs will save you some money and get a bit of exercise too. ha ha BTW, were the locals there speaking mostly Cantonese or Mandarin ? Is Chinatown still predominantly Cantonese ? Flushing Queens more Mandarin ? Brooklyn ?
