Use guitar cable and plug in directly to your amp. No battery is needed.

Yes. I replaced the adhesive tape with cloth. Then, I attached the pick-up with a clip to the side of the soundhole.

to remove, I used a flat head screwdriver to lift the pick up slowly and put a cloth underneath to prevent scratches.

I was able to remove it using a strip of dental floss, slid under it..easiest and safest method by far

If I decide to remove it and re-install it only when I need to (for recording or for gigs), will the glue still be effective in the long run?

It doesn't stick anymore once you remove it. but you can replace it with a new double-sided tape.
