During my weekly deep dive for the latest companies building offsite constructed homes I came across some great looking prefab cabins currently being build in Latvia. These cabins have a lot going for them but by far my favourite thing of all is the exterior. In this video I look into the company, their floor plans and check out their pricing. Love you and your videos and this company's product looks awesome. My wish list for your videos: state a price range up front (maybe with some price range logo) so we don't waste time watching a show with unaffordable options and state up front where the units come from and estimated shipping costs so we don't wonder if a unit from Latvia is even possible. Just generally it would be good to know what your definition of affordable/won't break the bank is as we go into the video. But, again, love the advice and tips you provide with much humor and appeal. Thanks.

Great video ! The prefabs always look better when they have a peak roof. It's better in a place where you might get snow and I would think be less likely to leak in a heavy rainstorm since there's nowhere for the water to pool. It also makes them appear larger.

I believe it would also likely be harder to heat......unless it's well insulated with ceiling fans to circulate the rising heat

@@zackdoc as long as it’s insulated properly it’s fine. I live in Alaska and we have a very high ceiling. Before we finished fully insulating it was very difficult, some days impossible, to get to a comfy temperature inside but completed insulation totally eliminated that problem.

It's easier to put solar panels on a flat roof. At some time in the day the sun will be shining directly on them.

Pour a foundation in your backyard about 20’x30’, buy a couple thousand dollars worth of lumber, and build an A-frame with a couple buddies, slap whatever roofing material you want on it find some second hand/returned windows and doors at a lumber yard and call it a day. Metal roofing is going to cost you around 50 bucks per 3’Wx16’L, probably better off finding whatever you can get the best price on. You’re going to have a better base of a build with a lot better potential in the future, and you’re going to save money. Just my thoughts. It’s also fairly easy to make 2nd floor lofts that look really cool and create a cool living/kitchen area, gonna cost more to raise the peak of the roof that much higher but it’s probably worth it to have the ability to expand as you go.

Kerry, would you be interested in checking on how much port to port delivery costs for items of this size? Or even if it's possible? I'm not asking for you to become an expert or anything, just a basic run down would be nice. I also wonder about the North American conversion process, getting inspection arrivals for homes built overseas and other fees that I'm not thinking of. One more question, why do most of the overseas built models not include clothes washers??? Thanks again.

Missed if the bathroom has a tub too but can review it again. i like these and the prices...but i like some others that cost more that you showed recently .......especially a recent one with tub and shower. By the way...Randy, of Incredible homes, is expanding and building bigger and more unusual and beautiful designs ..some are custom made/built according to buyers ideas along with his own...the last few or more might be worth checking out . Two recent ones were of two older women quite lovely, creative and interesting, themselves and then what they did do inside the home (each has their own home) with their use of space and design was really worth watching. There is also a give away for those folks still finding prices too high. The giveaway home is small, but a lovely structure. It will be a drawing .

As long as you are being practical I suggest finding out the insulative ratings. This does not look lie it would meet NYS requirements. And shipping from Europe can't be cheap. :(

The prefabs presented are visually pleasing (especially the lighter tone wood, with dark peak roof and accents), and allow plenty natural light, airflow/ventilation, the potential for drainage and collection of water, and are affordable. The total layout on the ground floor eliminates the whole staircase and/or ladder space constraints. Great series of videos to show diversity in this growing market. Wish more prefab homes would come Australia's way (or be built there) due to the severe accommodation crisis in Oz. P.S.: (innocent comment): we don't mind "getting used to this face" and your humorous comments!

Seems like more and more of these projects start in Europe, I'm excited to see how this plays out over five years. I really love how tiny homes have done away with hallways. I'm sure it's obvious, but how are heat and water addressed? So many mobile homes have noisy forced air furnaces, I'm guessing because it is good for the application.

This is getting closer to what I'd want. It's missing a few things, like space for a washer and dryer, and any meaningful closet space. The value is, however, undeniable. If they did a 60 to 80 square meter unit, with a large walk-in closet and a ensuite, if they kept the prices in proportion with what they're asking for these, I've found what I'm looking for. These units aren't wide enough to be what we call a single wide. A lot of these cause me to consider just how wasteful my condo was with space. When it comes to bedrooms, for example, having one where a queen size bed seems like an army cot thrown into the corner is a bit too much. Don't get me started on how, with over 800 sq. ft. of space, I had a living room that was as wide as a pinstripe. As always, you've provided some real food for thought. Keep it coming.

They have a great look, but there's no place for laundry machines and a bedroom closet. Another design quibble: all the windows are on one wall. When you do that, there's a lot of glare in the room and no cross-ventilation. Do they mention what they're offering for heating and cooling?

The pictures of you selling prefab looks great. The design offers a good example a contractor simple built on site cabin. My remote wilderness house has cattle bump their noses on my front door. I wonder if they might walk through these full height glass panes. One of my wilderness neighbors had a living room with full height glass that birds would blindly fly into and die outside the living room. They never found a solution to stop it.

CURTAINS ..even lace ones so can still see outside but birds can tell something is there....and other things on windows works...Tons of folks everywhere have full height glass panes and do not have birds flying into them even in rural wilderness places (where i live) and birds flying into small window glass all the time and not even touching those bigger ones. So that IS something to cope with and learn more about what to do . ..........the cattle tho...that's a different story...lol....i would worry about them running thru the glass also.

No closet space or room , even in the bath for a washer/dryer. I really like the minimalism but you would have to bring an amoir and a dresser making the bedroom in both the smaller units tight. My kitchen would have to sacrifice one cabinet for a big microwave/convection oven. I could see some enterprising landowner putting six or seven on then acres with a small lake as affordable homes. Not sure if cities would agree with the permitting but once you got the first one in it would go pretty fast. Locate it within five miles of town and they would go quickly.

Hey Kerry, I very much appreciate your videos. Can you focus on builds that can deliver to anywhere in North America. I live in Canada. Also, what I am looking for is a build that is around $40,000 to $125,000 or so, using non-toxic materials in their builds, and has the capacity for off grid - solar panels, etc. For size, anywhere from 550 square feet to 1,000. It can be two levels and to have the option for being placed on a foundation. Not much to ask for, eh? :D

Kerry! I was so excited about the price point, but... Latvia??? Come on. My heart can't take this anymore....I love it, but it may as well be imaginary. Maybe break it to us, first, what the delivery area is, to save us from despair. I love your choices and the price point, but I'd better start only looking at what's near California or Idaho, or I'll give up hope. Seems like the prices are too high in California per square foot, and near Idaho are mostly low-ceilinged traditional mobile-home type manufactured styles that are dated, big, and costly.

A peaked roof with no eaves makes any building look like a shed. Not a very well-conceived shed either. I feel sorry for those who only discover this a year or two after buying one. On the other hand, _de gustibus non est disputandum._ [There is no disputing about tastes.]
