I LOVE these units!!! I want to buy right now!!!! Their prices compared to what these prices will cost once here clearly illustrates American greed. Everybody has to get their fee, can't just let a person buy land and put a house on it in North America. Licensing, coding, inspections, exorbitant business setup costs and the list goes on; these ALL add drastically to home costs. So as beautiful as these are, as affordable as they are, WHERE they are makes a ton of difference. The difference in this case is gonna cost ya double just for starters. I'm usually not this cynical. I love these homes! I deserve to get to buy one of these homes! But my government requires entirely too many fees in addition to just the base price of the homes I love. Btw Kerry, great presentation. Thanks for allowing my dreams to expand again.

I would actually prefer we see more options around 800-1000 sq ft. I'm not looking for a massive home, but just something to where I can store things and have a guest room just in case.
@cbryce92432 жыл бұрын
Ditto...I prefer a 1000-1200 sq ft home without stairs. I'd also like to see solariums added to the homes (maybe could be done as an addition, I don't know), not so much for living space, but garden and plant space. because I use a wheelchair, not having to garden outside would be helpful.
@marianl34472 жыл бұрын
ditto...want about same size ...and with tub and shower both and storage room and guest space...Seems very reasonable to me. To fit just what really need in these too where we should be storing emergency supplies ...even warm clothes, food and tools and such...that takes 800 or more sg. feet... it's not just about daily life being a smaller footprint...and owning less things and smaller home...but about taking care of yourself no matter what happens and that requires space for that.
@cbryce92432 жыл бұрын
@@marianl3447 Good points. I use a wheelchair and have extra needs than an able-bodied person does. Shower chair, wider space for moving around like doorways, and cannot do stairs or lofts. Pus I am an artist, it is messy and requires more space. I don't want to have to clean everything up before I eat or go to bed.

50 years ago I worked on a tilt-up concrete job. Cast the wall flat and tilt it up then place it on a foundation. On another job I worked on we built a precast panels concrete bridge for trains. These techniques have been around for a very long time. The real problem I see is being able to get a crane big enough, close enough to place the building unless you can jack it off a trailer.

Beautiful, and nothing but praise for slanted snow load capable roofs! The foundation is also cool! I wonder if they would use styrete (styrofoam mixed with cement) as an option? Edit. Re: Slanted roofs. I’ve seen dozens of snow load roofs collapse due to the weight in our area. We warn them as they are building them, the new owners assure us that they are built for snow loads in our area, then a few years later they return after the season to find their roof collapsed. Sadly for many companies “snow load capable” is just a marketing slogan. Not joking. It is something that instead of just saying we are wrong, you SHOULD be warning people to check the manufacturer’s warranty, their testing records, owners forums before purchasing any for use in a heavy snow area. Most will handle a foot or two, but what happens when you get a freak 10’-15’ snow storm or several storms in quick succession that exceeds capacity?
@hedykarim36142 жыл бұрын
That would be a great video to make
@cbryce92432 жыл бұрын
Good to know. Thanks. Always get everything in writing and read the warranty completely before signing.
@gustavostensson10482 жыл бұрын
I believe that the snow load capability is correct as they are marketed for Sweden and Finnland. At least in Sweden we have a code regulating how much weight the roof must bee abele to withstand, which varies depending on which snow zone you live in. If the code isn't met you wont bee abele to get a permission to build it.
@pruutus2 жыл бұрын
The supporting structure of these houses is designed according to where the house will eventually go. In houses in northern Sweden, the heavy snow load and in houses in Iceland the heavy wind load (max. 60 m/s) are taken into account.
@Erin-Thor2 жыл бұрын
@@gustavostensson1048 - There are few regulations in my area and no one to tell you that you can’t build whatever. It’s moderately remote, a bit less than 2 hours away from any major town. People, trusting their salespeople, build with flat roofs or slightly slopped roofs thinking they are okay for the area. And in most cases they are, but in a few years fail when we have a heavier than normal snow.

That’s an 18” foundation! That has to create load problems for carriers. In Ohio you would need a trailer with six or more pairs of trucks on the trailer. Stunningg I really think 1200 sq Ft is a perfect home size. We lived in a lot of Air Force Base housing as a kid and with five kids we never felt like the house was too cramped at that size. These days some 60 yrs later I live in the same home size by myself and I find I can keep up with the housekeeping fine, it’s not terribly costly to heat and I have a spare room if the kids come to visit.

Hey Kerry! Do you know of any prefab companies that will let you design your own home? Not just take one of theirs and alter it, but actually design it? We have been looking around and have not found anything that really fits us and gives us everything we want. We ended up designing our own. When you look at the overall plan you can see that, surprisingly, it could be split right down the middle lengthwise. I think partly thanks to my love of symmetry. Being you are in mobile home business,you should compare money difference between mobile home,prefab[walls built in factory] modular and stick built. Being in Minnesota,I would put a block basement under,then you get washer,dryer,furnace and water heater[plus storage:bike,exersie machine,suit cases and canned goods],I think per square foot the cost is cheaper. If I put pier or crawl space ,I get no living space benefit. The homes I work on,the bank counts basement as living space.

Every company I call on your channel tells me they are conceptual, dreams, intentions, maybes, or works in progress. Tell us which ones can deliver and are ready to go.
