Me personally not an option, my 3 bedroom bungalow house with two car garage in gated subdivisions here in Lapu Lapu is 20k plus per month for total of 30k including internet and rest of the housing bills. No roosters I ever heard in the house and no laud karaoke neighbour’s here. I’m minutes to both hospitals in Lapu Lapu 5-8 minutes to be exact as well as beaches. 20-30 minutes away from Cebu and all its big malls including S&R (yes I eat western foods) it’s healthier then local foods heart attack death sentence imo. I’m guessing you don’t travel regularly and you want quite nothing around you kinda life 🤔 Do you guys have friends and I mean mutual that you all can hung around? We do and for us it’s important to keep in touch with them all on a regular basis, for example tomorrow we all 4 family’s going island hopping. I guess it’s too early to ask you how’s province life or is it? Anyways thanks for reading and replying to my questions man. Take care guys and happy new years to you both!

Nice apartment Chris. How safe is it in your apartment? Do they have security? I saw Gios video and he prefers condos because of security and brownout since the condo will have a backup generator. Thanks!
@CarefreeChris16 күн бұрын
Yeah, all good points, and here’s what that looks like. Regarding blackouts-yes, they do happen. They’re almost always planned and typically on Sundays. Since I started staying here part-time in August, I’ve only experienced one. My strategy for dealing with them is, first, to have a small portable solar generator to power anything critical, like a fan, and second, to simply head out for the day. Portable generators are super affordable now and handy for a variety of reasons. As for security, I feel safe here-everyone is super friendly. Petty crime is always a possibility, but the doors are secure, and I’m on an upper level. Being a tech professional for 30 years, I have plenty of gadgets like security cameras and Alexa devices that can listen for noise. In fact, I’m installing cameras now. The owners also mentioned that a pharmacy will be opening downstairs soon, which will include a 24/7 security guard and CCTV coverage. These are all things to consider, and I agree that when you first arrive, staying in a big condo makes complete sense.

Stop using that word "cheap" there, if you want it to last. You guys make an absolute point in ruining everything you land on.
@1100_Rebels_PH15 күн бұрын
Pretty harsh critic from your part. But I see your point. The word "cheap" could be perceived as offensive by PH viewers, since it can also be related to "no value" or "useless" in a broader sense. Better would be to say "less expensive" or avoid any judgmental statements at all. 6500 is not cheap, it is affordable. For many Filipinos it is some sort of expense, which cuts into their budget. If you call this "cheap", you might hurt some feelings. On the other hand, Chris did not use "cheap" that often. 1 time in a reply and 1 time, when he said that the yearly expense for his new home is cheaper than 1 month rental in the States. I don't consider this already as ruining everything.
@eicisback15 күн бұрын
@1100_Rebels_PH It's not "offensive", it is dumb and counterproductive/damaging/hurtful. EVERY TIME a local (of any country, for that matter) hears that word SO CONSTANTLY spit to his face, what he actually hears is "NOT EXPENSIVE ENOUGH", which at a certain point makes him think that HE would be the dummy not to rise prices up. PLUS, you also hurt the other locals, who THEM can't keep up with the increase. PLUS, you also hurt the local economy as local businesses now PREFER working with foreigners ONLY, cause their fellow citizens wouldn't pay as much so they would loose money dealing with them. I have vistited 147 countries so far and lived in 7, throughout 5 continents, and this absence of COMMON SENSE and CLARITY is a flagrant disease among VISITORS and EXPATS (who them have absolutely no excuses). It always blow my my mind to see the same people who see themselves as so clever, not understanding the damage they do to their own interests, by not keeping that word "cheap" out of their freaking mouths in the presence of locals. I find your comment pretty ironic. You’re worried about me being offensive for using the word ‘cheap,’ but you’ve commented here quite offensively yourself. That said, I think you’re getting stuck on just one of the many definitions of the word ‘cheap.’ Here’s the definition for reference: 1. Low in cost or price - Something that is affordable or inexpensive. 2. Of low quality - Suggesting something poorly made or inferior. 3. Stingy - A person unwilling to spend or share money. 4. Lacking value or dignity - Behavior or actions perceived as morally or socially inferior. 5. Easy to obtain - Something achieved without much effort or sacrifice. It’s worth considering the context and broader meaning before taking offense.

WHERE ARE YOU THOUGH? Which Island? Which city? What city you Near? Each island is so different from another. Lived there for a year and I was so restless not being comfortable. So VERY CURIOUS OF YOUR AREA??!

What the hell, I,m moving there. I am 68 years old and cannot to afford to live here in Tampa Bay on $3200.00 per month retirement income.

I lived in Tampa for years, and my son is still in the area. I love it there! As for here, yep, it’s incredibly cheap, and the people are super friendly too.

@@CarefreeChris Florida beautiful too but seems so flat though. No mountains, no waterfalls, no lush jungles. Unlike here in the Philippines.

Baloney. It's quite common for Filipinos to be shy and demure. This is even true for male Filipinos. Americans in general know so little about other cultures. It's sad.

Not living? Did you lose a bet or say that on purpose? I can't speak for Chris so I won't, I will speak for me. So, waking up in a nice bed with a girl you care for, with money in the bank, a shower, hot meal, nice TV near the beach is "Not living". Please, tell me how many square feet and how many overpriced appliances does one need to be considered "Living"? Being happy and alive is not enough to you, so please, what are the stats? Just curious. 🤷♂
