It's great to see such traditional Japanese restaurants trying hard to accommodate foreign diners. I think this is a huge step forward for Japanese tourism and thanks to byFoods for promoting these places in all the right ways. This is my first video from Japan by Food, but like everyone else is saying, Stephanie's commentary is very entertaining and informative. I can't wait for more videos to come.

I loved to see the enthusiasm from Stephanie; it's a great and positive change from some of the previous videos! I thought the sushi lab was better since they understood speaking in english and had the pictures of the fish to show you also. That really seems like a more complete experience for a foodie.

It looks like a lovely meal and I appreciate the video. I have to say that the translation of Omakase is not quite correct because the intention of "chefs choice" or "I lea e it up to you" is more nuanced in that the true intention is that the chef knows you and what you like and don't like? So the idea originally was you would be a patron at a restaurant where the chef knows you really well, and you would basically, over time, get to know that chef and he would get to know you and then be able to create a meal based on not just what was fresh, but on what he knew your tastes and predilections were. What's happening now is that Omakase has become a marketing strategy because it allows for a fixed menu to be sold as chef's choice. The problem is that it's not really Omakase if the chef doesn't know me. It's just a fixed menu and the prices that come with that don't always reflect the quality of the meal or the experience. In my opinion, I would rather go to a good sushi bar where the chef knows me and have him prepare a meal for me then go to a restaurant and pay premium prices to have a meal where I may or may not like what's being served in the order it's being served in. Thank you for the fun video and your lovely energy. I look forward to coming back to japan soon. If you want to try a really amazing sushi bar in Tokyo go to the standing sushi bar in Tokyo station near the imperial Palace. It's one of the best sushi experiences in TOKYO because of the quality of the sushi and the uniqueness of the experience. In my opinion…

4378yen for all you can eat Sushi is a good price in case you can eat more than 20pcs. If you eat just 20pcs, the price is higher than a good Sushi converter belt restaurant where you can get 1 piece for 120~170yen. But you have the side dishes included, which is a good thing. But how about drinks? You have to pay extra for drinks (except water), right? But the first place looks really awesome. I prefer the first place to the second place. I am not a fan of all you can eat.

how is 30K yen cheap?
@KatieN77Ай бұрын
I think she said it's around 10k. I think the chef was saying that it usually ranges between 30k-50k. If you click on the link that's provided in the description, it shows a range between 10k-15k for dinner. It ranges between 8k-10k for lunch
@vaffangool919625 күн бұрын
She said ¥10,000 JPY. That's currently $65.00 USD for twenty-two items, ridiculously affordable for omakase.

@vaffangool919625 күн бұрын
Omakase is always top quality sushi and JP¥10,000 is currently $65.00 USD. For twenty-two items that is ridiculously affordable. The two-hour all-you-can-eat sushi was ¥4378, less than $30. Perhaps you are confusing Chinese yuan for Japanese yen? Currently CH¥1= JP¥21.

Aussie English has evolved into an shape where an offensive amalgamation of extra vowels are pronounced when only one should have been. Strangely, it still sounds frightfully cute when it's spoken by Asian people.

I'm a bit of a germophobe, watching someone paw my food before serving it to me is disgusting. When I'm in Japan, I always eat at restaurants where I can't see the cook make my food.

Can we ditch the mouth covering while eating? Youre in a restaurant on a food show- nobody cares if youre scarfing food.

In Japan it’s customary to cover your mouth while eating and talking. You know how Americans offensively chew with their mouth open.
