That story at the end gave me tingles. Such a great feeling to be able to buy a plane ticket to spend this special time with your friend without even having to check if you have enough money to do so! #goals

I love board games too! I used to collect them. I can totally relate to the lack of enthusiasm people have nowadays toward them. It IS about the "getting together" with others and having fun. And yeah, I have experienced the same thing when I try to talk about financial independence and early retirement. People are very closed off to board games and learning how to become financially independent. I have given up trying to introduce people to both. Let them figure it out, if they ever do, on their own. The only ones truly interested in financial freedom are those already seeking answers. Love your podcast btw. Thanks. Oh, and when I told my coworkers I was planning on retiring early, someone asked "well won't you get bored?". I told a boss once that I was financially independent and he said "you still have bills!". I had to explain that being FI didn't mean I didn't have bills. It meant I had the money to pay my bills...without working. I think there is a real disconnect going on in much of the population between people and their money and their ignorance is their bliss.

That's so perfectly said!! "It meant I had the money to pay my bills...without working." -- Exactly! It's not about a lavish lifestyle; it's about building enough passive income that your basics are covered, so you can move on to other things that are priorities. So of course you won't get "bored," because you're doing whatever is your highest priority!

I agree with Ben! I 'd love to see facial expressions, gestures, etc. Really adds to the experience! Love the show!

Thank you!! Happy that you love the show. We edit these podcasts (the raw footage is about 2x longer, and a lot of what Joe and I discuss ends up on the cutting room floor), so if I produced video, I'd have to hire a video editor ... that adds to the complexity, workload and production cost. So it's not something that's a high priority right now. But I'll keep it percolating in the back of my mind as a future possibility!

Hi Paula! You always want to put 20% down on a house if you can because mortgage companies have their terms and the only way out of the pmi is a refi. It no longer falls off if your value goes up

Thanks Ben! We heavily edit the audio podcasts (the raw footage is 2x longer), so if I produced video, I'd have to hire a video editor ... that adds to the workload and production costs. So it's not a priority right now, as I think about how to manage both time, effort and money. But I'll keep it in mind as a future possibility!

Disagree on single stocks guys. I am investing in single stocks since 2 decades with CAGR of 19% here in India. My real estate have grown by 6% and index funds by 13%. Single stocks is the way here in India at least !

@Pearl Perlita Venegas Agreed ! My problem is with the blanket statement saying no one should invest in single stocks. There are few with that risk tolerance. 😊

You didn't mention your spread. Even though you invest in single stocks, it sounds like you still might be fairly diversified.
