Fuck me man they made the helicopter crash so much more intense in the remaster. I get chills at how well done it is. That heroic music cuts off right as your chopper takes a fatal hit from a SAM launcher and all you're left with is the sound of it going down and the pilot frantically calling mayday as you hold on for dear life in a death spiral straight to the ground. Intense as fuck. Not to mention right after this happens is when the nuke launched by Captain Price is detonated in the atmosphere causing the resulting emp blast to knock out all electronics barely saving whats left of you and your squad. I miss how good games used to be.

I feel like the sound when they emerge from the bunker is a bit off in this edition. Like, in the original the moment you peak out you get overwhelmed by all the shooting and the helicopters and stuff, and the music goes along with it quite well too. Meanwhile, here it's kinda quiet for a moment, then two helicopters fly overhead drowning out the music, then everything else kinda starts to kick in, and you've got these weird silent moments in between. Also, radio sounds way too clear. The bunker itself is clearly better though, you actually get the sense that it's full of... you know... wounded soldiers who are actually in pain, not just... injured looking people sitting down. They actually make noises and stuff.

I can't help saying that The Division 2 should've looked a lot more like this. It's the capital, so obviously they would've deployed national guard and the army to defend the white house but in TD2 it looks more like it was abandoned. A problem I have with modern cod games, which is why I stopped playing these games so much, is that they seem to forget what made call of duty so great. War being hell. Sure the modern games have these great looking cutscenes but I’d trade all of that for atmosphere like this. It’s brings forward a deadly feeling, like this fight may be the last. Now a days, call of duty forgot that tone and made it all about “YEAH! AMERICA ROCKS! GOD BLESS THIS COUNTRY! YEEE HAW!!!” And if you’re a fan of that, great but that wasn’t what call of duty was about. It was about shaking the bravery of soldiers who fought tooth and nail to save the day. And as the series went on, it lost that focus.
