Since treyarch developed both games, some assets (very few in the final game) made it over into world at war. If you look at some of the development footage out there you can see some of the same models for guns and icons etc still used as placeholders

Forest does good referencing the 2e Division Blindée, the Free French Second Armored Division. It did actually participate in the battle for the Falaise Pocket, and was known for being a bit disorganized and troublesome. General Philippe Leclerc de Hauteclocque had it rough, as he had to both organize a fighting force out of vastly differently qualified French military personnel, but also keep the former Vichy troops from getting into fights with the rest of the Free French troops. There was a tank destroyer regiment in the division known as the Régiment Blindé de Fusiliers-Marins that was made of former French navy personnel. Sailors. Leclerc also accidentally used roads meant for American divisions, which caused traffic jams. So yes, you can see how the French may have missed a few German positions in the forest. Funny enough, Leclerc oversaw the surrender of the last German defenders in Paris, who I'm sure were begging him to accept their surrender as the irregular partisans were not so inclined. So he finally did something right.

It's a thing about this mission. He was preparing his loadout before hand. You run out of ammo for the M1 quickly. Then on the hill in the beginning after the MG42 ambushes, you'd struggle in getting ammo

It took me so long to figure out how to turn the mortar left. Lol. It won't turn left if you just turn your joystick left. You literally have to rotate it in a circle. I kept dying until I figured this out.
