When in a room that is barely lit, our eyes basically see in black and white. When there is light, our eyes see in color, but it takes time to adjust. When rapidly flashing between the two, your eyes don’t have time to adjust, making it that much harder to see. Plus those strobe lights are military grade, so the brightness of the light itself adds a blinding effect.

I kinda laughed when, during the "urgent" rush to the windows, you had to stop and wait for the AI to catch up and open the door for you. That's Call of Duty for you, you're basically a passenger on a roller coaster ride, blink for a second and you'll see the seams.
