I believe it was broadcasted on TV very soon after. They recorded Strength Through Wounding, The Prayer Position, Sacrifice Theory and Girl's Not Grey. I'm pretty sure all of these but Strength Through Wounding were broadcasted because I can't find it. You can find The Prayer Position by looking up: The Prayer Position Live 2003.

Yeah yeah, old AFI rule bla bla. Yes to all that. But Sing The Sorrow is a goddamn masterpiece.

Listening back to it recently, it is a lot better than I remember it being! Some really great tracks on it.

Pretty sad, a few tracks on DecemberUnderground were good, but after that, I don't know happened. Sing the Sorrow is an absolute masterpiece like you say. Everything pre Sing the Sorrow (including Sing the Sorrow) I can listen to every track, and never get tired of them.

They played Girls Not Grey at a show in January 2003 in Phoenix, AZ. January 18 or something. They did a small southwest tour right after getting out of the studio before heading over to UK. The Start and F-Minus opened for them.

They have played that song at every show since the single dropped. That show you speak of isn't special.

AFI never "sold out." It doesn't matter if they're not hardcore anymore, do you expect them to rewrite Black Sails 4 times over and still like to play? Henry Rollins even said "Do you have any idea what some of these bands went through to make that music? The fact that there might be some money for them all these years later is great. You think that paycheck is in any way a slight to their integrity? Are you fucking kidding me? Pay them. Pay them now. It's about fuckin' time."

They've said themselves in interviews before that they don't want to make the same album over and over again. They want to try news things, and be creative, and I'm sure that if they did do the same thing every album people would complain about that! Bands grow and change with time, and their music does change, but I like their old stuff and their new stuff.

@dutchuribe Yeah I felt the same, I hate their new album and didn't particularly enjoy Decemberunderground but I chanced upon a ticket to a recent show, they played with sick of it all, and I got to say: AFI still have got it live. It's just a shame they've decided to head down this new cleaner sound (which of course as artists they're entitled to), it's just not for me. As I said though, live their new songs sound hardcore!

Davey kinda HAS to sing in a cleaner tone because of how badly he wrecked his voice.

I love afi but really, how old are u just wondering, cuz these new fans make me sick, oh afi, im 35 and if your used to the type of kick ass energy punk rock, and all the sudden that changes to make way for a new fan base, just is saddening to me, Ill always love their music, but the whole band sounds different! From the energy to the no screaming! I mean Im sure the record label tells them if you want to be famous you have to accomidate to a new fan base, anyways just to bad, but old afi great!
@sumspring41123 жыл бұрын
Hi, new AFI fan here. I LOVE old AFI but you expecting them to stay the same forever is not only realistic, it's insulting to them as people. They aren't a one trick pony for you and they never will be. They made the music THEY wanted to, and too bad if you didn't like it. Others do.
