unfortunately alot of people in the industry dont get this themselves, future isn't doing our region a favor or giving grace when he features on an arabic song with an arabic artist, our region is the fastest growing region in the world for the past 2 years and artists with little to no support are pulling Future's and many more A-listers numbers, they're actually promoting themselves to keep them self relevant in the region to gain more audience and listeners, its getting to the point of oh "we need the region" but we actually dont need them, collaborations are always welcome but to have it marketed to diaspora and orientalists is the mistake, show the culture and the art we have not the stereotypes. thank you for mentioning this

The Arabi song is catered towards western audience therefore it’s utilizing all the western stereotypes about arabs. Another example would be the Lebanese dancing band in AGT couple years ago. The worst effect of orientalism according to Said is that of orientals acclaiming the orientalist stereotype themselves.in other words arabs seeing themselves through western eyes.
