This game seems sweet. It reminds me of playing Storm in magic... Get the cards that let you play more cards and draw more cards and use your resources to get more of those cards so you can storm off and buy the winning cards.

Star Realms is so good. I have been obsessed with deckbuilders as of late thanks to Star Realms. I have copies of Dominion and Ascension coming in the mail tomorrow.

Serge: Chapel isn't really a gamble, it's the best card in the game. You always buy it in your opener, and you always trash coppers/estates, even if you timewalk yourself

Wait, he's the one who's played before, and thus explains it to everyone else, and doesn't understand the power of thinning your deck? Chapel is such a powerful card, NOT having a stack of them in a game hurts.

I’m pretty sure the way the game works is that if there is a tie then the player who went last in the turn order is declared the winner.

Dominion is my second favourite tabletop game by a mile (after Magic of course). As of now I own 6 expansions, saving for the rest :)

Drecon84 If You don't mind answering, which expansions would you recommend to buy? I really enjoyed Intrigue, even more so than the Main game, and I had a blast with the death themes in the middle ages one!

I really like Prosperity, it gives you a lot of big plays and makes for spectacular games. Seaside is interesting with the 'next turn' mechanic and plays well with other expansions. I'd hold off a bit on Alchemy as it's a parasitic expansion that plays best with itself. I Also like Cornucopia, but it's kind of all over the place. I'd pick that one up once you have a few other expansions. Other than that I know Intrigue and Dark Ages are great, but you already know about those ;)

Yeah, beginning players also tend to overvalue villages a lot. I mean, it's a fine card, but if you're not 'going off' with it, it's just not going to ever be great. Especially if you're splitting them among four players.

Drecon84 yeah, iv,e seen games where all but one player reliably cycles through their deck only to have 5-6 cash at the end, while the other just has the silvers and gold and wins

Yeah, dominion is generally a pretty fast game. 2 player games can end in 20 minutes if both players know what they want to buy.

This game not being sleeved triggered me. Towards the end, I caught it once, but it may have happened more, when they were playing treasures and then actions, sometimes multiple actions were played even though they only had one. That's why it's important to do all actions first because otherwise the steps get confusing.

Hey guys, there is a rule in dominion that says that if you don't have enough money to buy anything on your buy phase you get a copper instead. Because the copper costs zero. Plus if you can add highlands or dark ages expansion. It is an awesome game.

Actually, I own a copy of the game and yes it does. It is very specific and says only if you have not enough money, ie when you have 1 copper or less and multiple buys, then you may buy a copper instead. A card costing 0 coins can be bought even when you have no coins. If you have more Buys, you may buy more cards, for the unused coins you have left. (Some cards give more Buys.)

@@automechs360 yes you may always take a copper for 0 as your buy but your original comment stated you get a copper instead. You made it sound mandatory. It is decidedly not mandatory. It is optional and more often than not it is a terrible move because it dilutes your deck.

Firstly, you made it sound like you have to buy a copper, but that's definitely not correct. You simply have the option to buy a copper (or a curse for that matter) But the question is: why would you? Buying a weak, low impact card like copper makes your deck weaker since it reduces your chance of drawing your better cards. Barring specific scenarios, such as when you are going for gardens or if you accidentally trashed too many treasure cards, it's almost always wrong to buy copper.
