The best statement was made by Clarko on how our young fellas felt what its like to play that kind of football and they stood up to the occasion. What a scorcher. Sicily to get the Rising Star or we riot.

I hate when the bloody announcers get on their soapbox and start talking garbage. Like for instance Shaun Burgoyne gave Lindsay Thomas a perfect don't argue stiff arm in Friday's game... He then appeared to trip on his own feet and fall, there upon got tackled and pinged for holding the ball. The announcers all had a good laugh and one said "he wasn't very silky there" Not ONE saw that Lindsay, (being the upstanding fair play athlete he is) reached out as Shaun went past and hit Burgoyne's ankle on purpose causing Shaun to get caught up in his own feet! I don't know if it constitutes a trip, but it sure caused one. And NO ONE saw it. Go back and look at the highlights, slow it down and see for yourself. Then there's the matter of Sicily's arm raise and resulting high contact. Lindsay Thomas practically invented the arm raise for a high contact years ago... (though Joel Selwood is a possible co-inventor) That Sicily's arm raise is more obvious than others does not mean that the rule for high contact takes the onus off of the tackler! I personally think that the arm raise ought to be taken out of the game, however until such time as the AFL makes a change to the rules that a player may not use that tactic, then Sicily is within his right to make that particular move. It's not like he hasn't been doing that in prior rounds, players taking him on might want to keep that in mind. Fans of other teams should quit griping about it too, as MANY other players use the same tactic on a regular basis. They just are more subtle. A tackle anywhere between the shoulders and knees is legal, if a player lowers his tackle by a few centimeters he is far less likely to fall victim to the tactic. When one of the announcers (Wayne Cary?)stated flat out that the Sicily move didn't constitute a high tackle. Cameron Ling then asked if under the current rules if it was, or wasn't, high contact. The announcer then admitted it was under the current rules. Good on ya Lingy! I WISH they'd say something like "I believe the rules committee should take up this issue." and NOT say "That is not high contact!"

Sicily did raise his arm, but the tackle had already gone high by then. If you can't beat em.....

Roos go hard at our players, commentators praise there toughness.. We do same thing last year and we get called thugs and unsociable... Double standards?

Nup, we smashed them with a forearm and a clip over the head and copped four and three weeks for it, and they capitulated like all soft teams do. Sydney and Freo sat up and took notice of it too - everyone knew then that you can rattle North with physical hardness
