Even though the Port Adelaide Power have had a rather disappointing 2016 to date, Port had smashed the Hawks pretty well the last two times they met on the home and away schedule. Not only, that but there was that massive comeback the Power ended up losing by three points to the Hawks in the 2014 finals. It seemed like if that game had been a couple of minutes longer Port would have gotten up for sure. Because of that history, THIS game had a lot riding on it for the Hawks. Port played gamely and probably had their best effort of the season but the Hawks were out for a statement game, and it showed. The Hawks had perhaps their best four quarter effort of the season. The incident Clarko had with the fan at his Adelaide hotel after one of Port's wins had to be somewhere in the back of the Hawk's coach mind when the Hawks came away with this one and played a fairly strong game throughout. Good win Hawks... always tough to win on the road and no tougher place than Adelaide Oval.
