Jim Stynes - a class act. He faced his illness like he faced his football, head on, with infinite courage and dignity. Nothing but huge respect for this man.

Great battler in football and in life from Ballyboden ,to Melbourne a proud son of Dublin ,a proud son of Ireland,a man who will be remembered proudly more in Melbourne than anywhere else.He was an inspiration to any person who has doubts about life ,he valued it and battled for it with great bravery.Would like to send greetings to his brother Brian Skippy Stynes who wore the blue of Dublin for many years and now lives in Australia.

I’m an 82 year old Irishman now living in Western Australia and going through ‘Chemo’. Having seen Ron Barrassi in the background reminds me that as Chief Steward in Croke Park, I was the person who welcomed him out onto the pitch when he brought the first Australian Rules football team over to Ireland to try out a mixed rules game. I remember Jim, Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dilis, and his younger brother Brian playing their ‘club football’ at home too.
