Either way it's become personal and ugly, maybe Bevo was trying to highlight the under-handed tactics that journos use in getting scoops, and the fact there's probably a mole in the Bulldogs camp...which should be more alarming. Bevo is obviously sour about how much journalists can peer into, and make public, players and coaches lives, and taken this broader frustration this out solely on tom morris in an almost un newsworthy grievance. I thought it was pretty funny and loved bevos tenacity. I think bevo is right to want to open a larger narrative up about this. Journalists like Damian Barrett are up in arms about a coach being so volatile about a journalist "doing his job". I think its fair to question the level of what "doing their job" has come to and if 24 hour coverage and commentary (from largely coarse voices like Tom Morris, Kane Cornes and Damian Barrett) is having a positive impact on the game and peoples well beings. Bevo may well be spot on in much of what he says but the delivery was an embarrassment and deserves a hefty fine for bringing the game into disrepute. Will be very surprised if the AFL do nothing given such a vicious attack on the lifeline of competition the media. Not a fan of the media but they are the biggest factor in promoting a sport and keeping it in the spotlight without them the AFL would not be the dominant sport they are and only a fool would think otherwise. You cannot use a press conference to spread hatred against the very hand that feeds you and expect to get off Scott free. Expect a $20k fine in the mail Bevo.

The media aren't the lifeline of the competition. Just look at how much promotion the AFLW gets and no one watches it. The NRL has plenty of media coverage and yet the AFL trounces it in terms of a following. The quality of football on display, the time schedules and the price of admission are by far the largest determining factors in who watches the league. If a journalist is leaking team line-ups before they are released by the clubs, especially when they barrack for the opposition team, then that journalist should be called out.

Yeah and the dumb decision to allow Adelaide to keep Walker on their list Shows that when it comes to racism or drug issue (Rioli at West Coast) they are all talk Walker should have been removed from the club set some standards. No accountability to press members to make up stories or breaking rules a simple phone call to the dogs would have prevented this

The leak is a problem because its causes issues with the players. Finding out if you made the team or not through a leak to a journo shouldn't happen.... Particularly Morris probably brought the information from someone within the club. The coach should be allowed to tell the players first then allow it to be mentioned to the press...

What an absolute legend. I'm not a dog's supporter but the absolutely spineless attack on Bevo is ridiculous. I would say any young man dedicated to the sport would be happy to play under someone with such passion for his players. Tom Morris will be forgotten in a day or two.
