Full credit to both sides, Port were under the pump big time after the thrashing last week against the cats but were able to really step up against the Hawks who have been the in form side throughout the past few months this season. The Hawks did so well to fight back from an 0-5 start early in the season and were just the 3rd team within VFL/AFL history to have made finals after starting 0-5.

Hawthorn didn't get a goal until 11 minutes to go in the second quarter and that was a sympathy gift from the umpires, as were their next two goals which got them back in it. Port got screwed by the umpires. In the first half the only thing keeping the Hawks in the game was the umpires. Sure the players were swung around but their heads never hit the ground. In one of those the umpire must have had Xray vision and been able to see through the Port players back to be able to see the Hawk players head. Then when Hawk players were caught and then dropping the ball multiple times no free kicks. When Port forwards were pushed mid air going for marks in the forward lines, again no free kick. I wonder whether it was the AFL’s intent or attempt on keeping a Victorian team in the finals? Now for me to say this takes alot, being a Crows supporter. It’s not the first time umpires have impacted a finals outcome. Luckily, in the end justice prevailed.

Ignoring the 'umpiring' in the first half. The second half was some stressful hard footy from both sides. MVP was Rioli for sure, insane influence and always working his guts off for the team, incredible player at the moment. Off we go to face Sydney, even if we dont win, Port has done the fans proud either way. However, just imagine if we manage to beat a rested team at their home ground, now that would be awesome!

Hawthorn get free kicks with a 50 metre penalties from a safe perfect tackle when the umpire is on the back of the tackle so he can't even see the impact. Best game of the finals so far. Disappointing that the only thing that seems to be highlighted were the comments after the game. So Hardwick upends Rioli during the melee! Does that constitute a tribunal hearing as it was not during play but during a scuffle and resulted in a dangerous tackle WITHOUT him having the ball?? I'd say that would be at least 6-7 weeks going by recent efforts, considering Houston got five while the ball was in play?? There were two more sling tackles during the game, both by Port players both resulted in free kicks, plus a fifty metre penalty and two goals, but this incident was not overruled by the umpires despite happening right in front of them. Hmm, Victorian umpires perhaps?? Love to hear your views on this!!

I'm not a Port fan, and I'm probably an ex fan of the AFL. I used to watch but now I just watch the odd highlights video a few times a season. Its gone far too woke. The backlash against the Port coach from the media and now the AFL for doing nothing but showing some personality just reeks of some kind of totalitarian dystopia. The whole media coverage is about that and not the game or some of the dubious umpiring which seemed to favour the team who have aspirations for Hollywood with some of their acting performances.

Hawthorn should be very proud of their effort.. especially grateful to the umpires for actually keeping them in the game.. 3 goal assists from the men in yellow. So if you can't tackle, is it okay to tap the opposition on the shoulder and politely ask for the ball ? Make sure you do it with respect though... hope those umpires get spoken too, but they won't.. because everything is fine apparently.

Port played at 9/10 Hawthorn 4/10 yet only won by a few points at home. Will be good next time when Barrass,Battle,Day, play and later in year hopefully Lewis. Hinkley is a tool for gloating and opening his mouth , time and place for that and it's not straight after a game in front of everyone, if you disagree then think how you would feel if someone did that to you. If you still disagree then you are a bigger tool than Hinkley.
