This game made me cry, rarely cry watching sports but man this was just phenomenal by the Lions. So happy! Our household just lost it and went berserk. We love League and Union but nothing beats AFL Finals footy. It's too good!

@@Toast2005It’s hard to enjoy both when the games are at the same time slots. I believe if one was a winter and the other a summer sport, way more people would watch and appreciate both. Or at least, coordinate it in a way that the two finals series do not overlap. Jesus, how hard can it be? Two AFL prelims and two NRL semis and you can only watch two whole games out of 4.

Just watching these highlights now after the Lions won the GF and its amazing that they won this game. Lions were 13th after 5 or 6 games and half way through the season they weren't even expected to make the top 8. This has to be one of the best GF wins ever wouldn't it?

@@garion046And what really makes that game incredible is the Lions were down by a point with roughly 20 seconds to go, deep in their defence. They had to move it out fast, with one miss pass meaning game over. In that time they managed to desperately hit every target, including the massive mark inside the 50 just as the siren sounded shortly after. At the time you would only want the big Johnathan Brown taking that mark, but it wasn't him, instead it was the 200 gamer, Ashley McGrath. Possibly the only correct option to truly make this game the stuff of legends. And with Ashley's former teammate and current coach of the opposition unable to watch, he absolutely nailed that shot as the match earned its name in the excitement: "The Miracle on Grass"

Because we can’t sustain our current brand for 4 quarters + pure arrogance from the coach and the playing group who repeatedly acted like they were going to win the flag. Not only that, we stopped playing at 3QT and went slow and defensive, which is asking to lose

Exactly. That goal by Daniher to make it a one point game, from the boundary, what an insane goal, while he has missed the simplest of goals this season. Massive respect that he could rise to the occasion. That is what big players do.

We controlled most of the game, but I have to give Brisbane the credit for doing what we did so much this season, and that’s surging when down by so much to give themselves their chance. The giants need to stop saying “we’re gonna win the flag” and actually perform it. Never gonna win a flag with arrogant attitudes like that. The giants literally stopped playing their brand at 3QT and went into their shells

Growing up half my family was Carlton (all the boys) and half was Fitzroy ( all the girls) so out of respect for my Mum the Lions have always been second favourites, even though they piss me off beating the Blues in finals over and over again. I think they can go all the way if they can play more than half a game as they did against my mob and on the weekend.
