On the last day of the Special Chiefs Assembly in Ottawa, the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) holds a news conference to raise concerns over Jordan’s Principle funding. Named in memory of Jordan River Anderson from the Norway House Cree Nation in Manitoba, the principle ensures all First Nations children have equitable access to government services.
Speaking with reporters are Cindy Blackstock (executive director of the First Nations Child and Family Caring Society), Betsy Kennedy (acting grand chief of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs), Garrison Settee (grand chief of the Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak), and Willie Moore (AFN’s Manitoba regional chief).
