I actually have a pair that zips like that!! I'm betting his are nicer because he needs them that way, but I actually got mine at target for ~30 dollars, so there are easily financially accessible options that do that too :) really useful for bad pain or tic days when going through the process of putting them on and tying them would be difficult

I am thirteen years old, and I have Cereable Palsy I will have to wear my braces forever, but the funny thing is that my leg brace doctor changed me into flat braces and my hips changed. Now I'm in full ankle braces and I love them, even though in the summer people will be able to see them because I will be wearing shorts and working on my summer tan.

I was born very pigeon toed. My feet were almost backwards. My feet were straightened with a rigid bar that ran from foot to foot with saddle shoes attached with knobs on the bottom. I only wore it at night. This did straighten my feet but I learned years later after having a lot of pain in my legs that my hips were still turning in. I’m glad his hips are being focused on. I wish this was the case for me 55 years ago.

This is so sweet, and I'm so happy you found a way for him to walk. I was born with both of my femurs out of the hip socket, and had to wear a brace that held my legs in a certain position to correct it.... My grandpa always thought it was painful for me and he would occasionally take it off so I was more comfortable which was sweet of him but could have also affected my treatment... Luckily it all worked out and at 22 I can walk and run like everyone else. Keep fighting for your little one, I'm sure he will get better as he grows up and I'm rooting for him being able to walk unassisted some day

People treat things like leg braces as if they're something wild and that kids with them are somehow defective. Leg braces are one of the most amazing things humans have invented. In basically all of history, having issues with your legs as a child basically ruined your entire life. Leg braces make what could become severe if left untreated eventually become just a funny thing someone might recall from their childhood.

I wish I had gotten braces as a kid before my growth plates fuzed. I'm duck footed and have scoliosis, as well as mildly hypermobile, and have been disabled since I was 9 when I woke up screaming in pain, which the hospital diagnosed as chronic tendonitis in my hips and back. You're doing a good thing for your child.

My nephew who’s 6 has to wear AFOs because he’s got 💜Sanfilippo Syndrome💜. It’s weird because I never used to know or understand what things like AFOs or stuff like that was being used for until someone in my life needed them. And now I try to understand and learn things like that even if someone I know doesn’t have to use things like these.❤

The bottom of my legs were quite deformed when i was younger and they said that the quickest way to help me was to break both of my legs, but my mom didn’t like that option so they gave her different advice on how to straighten my legs naturally. She managed to pull it off, but my feet still turn in a little and i do sometimes trip over, and my shoes wear down alot quicker on the one side because of the uneven weight distribution, but Im so grateful for my mom for helping me grow normally. Moms are amazing ❤

My son went to preschool where the teachers removed his AFOs. It was a water day or something. When they put them back on, he complained because his tongue hurt. They looked at his tongue and there was nothing wrong with his mouth. It wasn’t until I went to take his shoes off when we got home that I realized they hadn’t put the tongue back in with the AFO! My poor boy!

I went 18 years with undiagnosed autism (sexism in mental health is nuts...) I used to be a toe walker and had no idea it was a symptom. It caused significant problems in my knees and hips as I grew up, and my mum (not blaming her, she didn't know any better) took me to a chiropractor rather than a real doctor. He ended up making the problem significantly worse..... Luckily we were able to visit an actual medical doctor who got me the help I needed. I still have hip problems and troubles walking on flat feet but its a lot better now
