A French Frye in Paris

2 жыл бұрын

This livestream from 2018 was never transferred to my KZbin channel so I'm uploading it to complete the archive. Apologies for the low resolution, it's all FB would allow back then!
The blog post I referenced, documenting my secret journey into the bell tower of this church, can be found at bit.ly/3tvIJUD

When I visited in 2017 there was a boat hanging with Mary Magdalene and the tradition of her group being saved by God. Also, I too felt like it was a forest and the apprentice twisted column like a Tree of Life in the Center. There is a wood carving of the Asention of Mary. And my favorite stain glass windows of Mary Magdalene that says she was an Apostle to the Apostles. Thank you for this wonderful walk through and history. ❤

This is so good! So much great info about a beloved church! I especially enjoy the description of the forest of columns in the apse. I didn't notice this variation! By the way, those central keystones can be also called bosses. In medieval stonecutting work, a knob would often be left on this key - keystone, making it easier to set inplace. Later this knob got beautifully carved.

So late to the party! We just returned from a trip to France (6/19/24) and fell in love with this church. Your video and commentary is great! So many details, things we missed (though we visited twice!), and history! Thank you. Are you still doing guides? If/when we return to Paris we would like to book some time with you.

This was one of my favorite parts of the Latin Quarter tour I took with you! The cloister (charnel houses) was completely new to me!

Are you aware that it's the Latin quarter because the language of university was latin and not because they dance to rumba right?
